First floor rec room -- Wednesday evening

The room was decorated with colourful streamers and banners, and along one side of the room a long table was set up full of food and drink, including a large cake with the words "Happy Birthday Sammy" written on it kinda lopsidedly.

There was another table set aside for presents and center of the room was cleared for dancing or whatever else people wanted to do. Dean had hauled his stereo down and set it up to play music, not all of which was classic rock in deference to Sammy's tastes.

Everything was set up for the party. It just needed the people now.

[OOC: putting this up way early because I ended up getting called into work today and so won't be here this afternoon/early evening. Mod the contents of the room and music as you see fit. OCD's up]

Annette was not very good at darts. This became obviously apparent by the number of darts that kept making pin holes in the wall. After a half hour, she gave up and roamed about a bit. Doing the mingle thing.

She would dance too. When she had a partner. Or when she felt like it.

"Hey Annette!" Buffy waved and walked towards her.

"Hiya, Buffy! How's it going?"

"Pretty good. You? Are you staying for the summer?" Buffy asked curiously. "I'm staying for the first half."

"I'm staying for all of it except a week. Going to visit home so my parents don't think I'm such a slacker and can't visit." She grinned. "What are you doing the second half?"

"Mom and I are moving to a place called Sunnydale in California." Buffy gave Annette a grin. "For some reason she wants to see me during the summer too. Parents can be so unreasonable, huh?"

"Very. And mine are so perceptive it seems. I have to be real sneaky-like when I talk to them." Annette blinked, thinking about the prank call she made to her mom the other night. Dumb. Just plain dumb. "You are coming back though, right?"

"Oh yeah, totally! I couldn't possibly abandon my Gremlins now!" Buffy grinned big and bounced. "I don't tell mom a lot about the more... unusual things here either. I mean, she just wouldn't understand, and probably send me to therapy again or something."

"My parents already tried to make me come home. I, uh, have this way when I talk sometimes. I don't mean to let things slip out, they just...do. I've got to work on my phone skills."

"Maybe you need, like, a scrip?" Buffy suggested. "Oh, or someone to handily grab the phone from you and say you've got a fever and don't know what you're saying?"

"Dick answered the phone for me one time. It was early in the morning. That didn't go over so well. One time I just beat the phone against the wall and told her my phone was breaking up. A script might really come in handy."

Buffy winced. "Yeah, I can see how that didn't go so well. I think Alec's been in a couple of movies here at school with someone called Valenteen? I don't know who wrote their scripts though."

"Ooh, maybe I should talk to him about it." She said, hopeful. "And maybe my parents will just stop calling me so much." Probably not though.

"Probably not," Buffy said, echoing Annette's thoughts. "I mean, they're parents." She shrugged.

She nodded, agreeing, "Right. Oh, well, at least I'm good at making up stories." She grinned wide. "Go me!"
