Outside Platypus cabin, late Saturday night

After the movie that wasn't actually watched due to all of the talking going on (although Jim did notice that one actress looked kind of like someone he knew), Jim and Pam walked back to Platypus.

"So, what did you think of the movie?" he asked, feeling surprisingly not nervous.

"It was...gross," Pam said, hands in her pockets. "But in a fun way!" she hastened to add.

"A lot funnier than I expected," Jim said. He heard it was funny on the internet. He had no clue what happened during the movie. "At least we had fun, right?"

"Yes!" she said. "With the invisible people."

"I thought they were really friendly once we got to know them," Jim said. "You know, if they existed."

"Well, yeah, but we'll never know," she said, shuffling a little from foot to foot.

"I think they may have been mute," Jim said, looking down at his own feet.

"Or shy," she suggested, idly poking a little twig towards his foot with the tip of her shoe.

"I wouldn't say shy. I think they were naked," Jim suggested. "Their clothes would have been visible."

"Unless they're wearing invisible clothes," Pam pointed out.

"You've read The Emperor's New Clothes. Invisible clothes don't exist," Jim said.

"We live in Virginia. They would die in the winter without some kind of clothing," Pam argued.

"And in the winter they wear clothes. They're just not invisible," Jim argued.

"Then why haven't we seen them?" Pam asked.

"They wear white and were hidden by the snow," Jim suggested.

"It's not really warm enough for nakedness yet. Aren't they ever cold now?" she wondered.

"When you're naked that much, you get used to a wide range of temperatures," Jim explained.

"That is, if they exist," Pam added.

"If they exist, yes," Jim conceded. "Personally, I'd rather believe there weren't any naked people there. It just makes things much less creepy."

"You're the one who brought them up," said Pam.

"Only to creep you out. Once it started to creep me out it became a bad idea," Jim admitted.

"But while it creeped me out, it was fine?" Pam asked, laughing a little and looking up at him.

"Obviously," Jim said, rolling his eyes playfully. "Short girl creeped out? Cute. Tall guy creeped out? Kind of sad. That's the way of the world, Beesly."

"I'm not short. You're just gargantuan," she said.

"And platypi are real," Jim said.

"That's right," Pam said, hopping up on a step and smirking. She was now...well, not the same height, but a lot closer.

"What, you think that changes anything?" Jim asked. For a second, he thought this would be a perfect opportunity to make a move. Her face was that much closer to his, it wouldn't take much to lean in...

Too bad this wasn't a date. "You're still much shorter than me. Even if you went to your tiptoes, I bet."

Pam went on her tiptoes. "It's not my fault if you're a giant and I'm normal."

"Normal for a midget," Jim said, stepping up. "There. Extra-short once again."

Pam jumped up the next step, and this devolved into a race inside the cabin (Jim won) and then to their alcoves (Pam won) where they eventually went to sleep (separately.)
