With his first two workshops moderately successful (the dog kicking question was a trick!) and the books still acting like chickens inside the cabin, Gavin's escaped to outside the cabin.

He's leaning against a log and counting stars. It's better than counting sand.

"I was just me," Mel said shaking her head. "Everyone else was just nuts. And also not so nice."

She might be rubbing her neck at that time.

"Couple of them turned into vampires. I got bitten," Mel admitted.

He frowned thoughtfully. "Yeah, that's a much, much worse kinda weird. Were you hurt badly?"

"Healed up pretty quick. The guy who bit me is my Watcher. Kind of like a teacher but with less homework."
