Curupira campfire - Monday evening

Since she had no workshops today, Molly had slept in and then spent the majority of the day puttering around the cabin. The glittery was getting to her though. So, she went to sit outside for a while with her back to the cabin. She ignored the fact that she was almost as glittery as the cabin by now.

Warren stared at the portal. "Yeah, I'm really not sure I'm ready to take that leap off the deep end." He backed away from the portal. "But, um, be my guest."

Naminé curtsied lightly. "I understand. I'll be right back."

And with that she stepped through the portal, closing it behind her.

Warren waved his hand through the air where the portal had been, still boggling.

Then he slowly sat down and tried to wrap his brain around it all.

A minute or two later, Naminé walked up to the campfire. From the general direction of the Abominable Snowman cabin, no less.

She sat down next to Warren with a smile and a wave. "It's just a portal. You can travel all sorts of distances that way. If you know how."

Warren made a lot of incoherent noises and ran his hands through his hair.

"I didn't mean to disturb you," she said, worrying a bit. "Just show you that perhaps you're wrong, about what's real and what isn't. Or perhaps Fandom isn't real itself, which is a bit odd to consider."

That would be a faint whimper at the idea of Fandom not being real.

Warren had never had an existential crisis, before. "No," he said finally. "That's okay. And that's a-a cool thing you did, there . . . even if I can't even begin to understand it. . . ."

"Not much to understand," Naminé shrugged. "It's just a shortcut. Darkness can reach to every point in the universe, but darkness itself is a void. So you can travel to darkness from anywhere, and from darkness to anywhere else."

She looked over at Warren. "So if you want to get between two places quickly, you travel to the void, and from there to the new location. It's logical, if a little odd."

". . . That's the most complicated piece of physics I've ever heard, and I used to be really, really into Galaxy Quest."

Naminé smiled. "I know it sounds confusing. But it really does work. Would you like to go somewhere else? I can create another one." She gestured with her hand out.

Warren shook his head quickly. "No! No. That's okay. Maybe another time. My brain is gooey enough as it is, right now. . . ."

"My apologies, for alarming you." She nodded lightly. "It is rather convenient, for travel. And escaping from those who wish to harm you." There was a teasing smile as well. "And of course I seem to get strange looks for it here."

Naminé laughed. "It's true, although perhaps it's only newer students. Maybe the older ones view it as old hat. But I could say stranger things that I'm sure you wouldn't believe. All true, as well. My life is ... complicated."

She shrugged. "Is Stuckeyville not like this, then?"

Warren laughed. "Stuckeyville is so completely not like this there aren't words."

"That sounds calming," she said, nodding. "And things would be easier to understand. Do you miss it?"

"Right now? Only kind of a lot,"

"I'm sorry." Naminé shrugged. "It seems abnormality is more the usual here than not, which must be hard for those who aren't accustomed to it."
