Kraken Campfire, Later Tuesday Night

Rikku hoped it wasn't too dark that people wouldn't be able to see that she now had purple hair.

Aly was on her short list of Favorite Teachers Ever.

She hoped the Kraken bathroom had recovered from any possible dye-related mishaps.

Rikku sat in front of the campfire, bouncing to herself. Ready to chat the ear off anybody and everybody who dropped by.

[so very open]

"It's like a ship but it flies," Bridge offers. "I could offer a more technically-detailed explanation but I'm guessing that's not the sort of information you'd need or even care about."

"Oh! Does it have an engine? Is it like a car?"

Aravis was very grateful for Gavin and Seely at the moment.

"It has an engine, yes, but it's a different kind than what you'd find in a car, because planes are generally much, much bigger and so they require more power."

And now she was confused again. It had been nice while it lasted.

"If it's so large, how does it fly?"

"Well, it involves air being sucked in to the engine and compressed, and then the compressed air is mixed with the fuel, and then the fuel is lit, and this provides the power necessary," Bridge says. "This type of engine is generally bigger and more powerful than the combustion engines you'd find in a car."

Aravis stared blankly at him. "So this large piece of metal -- the engine -- is bigger, so it flies?"

"It's bigger and the type of fuel it requires is different," Bridge says. "You couldn't put jet engine fuel in a car and expect it to run, and gasoline wouldn't really work in a jet engine."
