Chupacabra campfire: Friday night

The fire was lit and crackling cheerfully - not that it was particularly cold, but there was something strange in the air tonight and Karal had wanted a fire.

He was leaning against a log, staring into the flames, while Altra sat on the log behind him, watchful and wary. With no idea about the radio, and his mun's limited availability solitary habits over the past few days, Karal didn't know there was a machete wielding homicidal maniac being hunted through the woods anything strange was going on.

There was a notebook in his lap in which he occasionally wrote something, but mostly he was content to simply watch the fire.

When Gavin came out of the cabin, he threw a chocolate bar at Karal's back. Just because.

Altra batted it out of the air with a snort, and Karal craned his neck around to stare, shaking his head when he saw the chocolate bar on the ground. "It really is far too kind of you to share your chocolate with me all the time," he said, hiding a smile.

"But I'm a nice guy," he said, taking a seat next to Karal. "I share when I can. What're you up to?"

"You are, and I do appreciate it," he said, twisting to retrieve the chocolate bar, which he sat next to him. "I must admit I'm up to very little, just watching the fire. And yourself? Have you any exciting plans for the evening?"

Isabel wasn't exactly thrilled about being outside in the dark near the woods, but she refused to let the lunatic ruin one of her favorite things`about being in the cabins. So she took a seat where she could watch the woods to make sure nothing came sneaking up on them.

"Isabel, hello," he said, smiling a welcome, which faded as he noticed the bandages poking out from under her sleeve, and the scratches on her knees. "What happened? Are you all right?"

Altra turned to look at her, then hopped off the log and walked over to sit by her side, also staring into the woods.

"I'm okay," she assured him. "I had a run-in with something out in the woods the other night. It wasn't friendly." Unconsciously she reached down to scratch Altra..

Altra pressed against her side, and started to purr. :Something is going on, Karal. Find out what.:

"A run-in?" he asked worriedly. "With what sort of something? Are you certain you are all right?"

Any latent disappointment in her performance in Flight and Flying (as in, she didn't beat her grandfather's score) or homesickness paired with that was more or less burned off wandering around the rummage sale, but Jaina didn't want to lock herself in her alcove all alone. Partly because the alcoves didnt lock.

So she was more than happy to see people outside. "Hi," she said.

"Hi Jaina," Isabel smiled. "Did I see you at the rummage sale today?"

"I did some wandering," she said. "Did you get anything?"

"Jaina, hello." Karal smiled up at her. "How has your day been?"

"I can do better than six and a half minutes and one turret missed," she said. "Other than that, not bad. How are you?"

"Hello," Gavin said, waving. "I didn't know you could fly as well as you do."

Jaina was still kicking herself for her times. "I can do better," she insisted.

Peter came by after the rummage sale. "Hey Karal. How's it going?"

"Peter, hello!" Karal smiled a greeting. "It goes," he hesitated, "it goes fairly, I think. And you? Has the week been good to you?"

"Can't complain," Peter said. "Hey, would you be interested in a road trip?"

"Hey, Peter," Gavin said, waving. "Come to be lazy?"

Jaina gave him a wave. "How's Mom?"

"She says you don't call often enough," Peter replied, grinning.

Charlie walked over to the Chupacabra campfire, notebook in hand, and settled down on one log after giving a wave to everyone. "Hey." She pulled out a pen and started writing.

The woods seemed to breathe with menace; leaves rustles ominously, as Roberta Bobbi trudged back toward her cabin...

Karal watched her with interest. "May I ask what you're working on?"

"Ummm..." Charlie fiddled with her pen, then admitted, "A story about a crazy person in the woods." She turned red. "That probably makes me sound nuts, hunh?"

She heard a branch crack behind her, and told herself: don't turn around, don't turn around...
