Platypus campfire, early evening
Annette was kind of grumpy so she was sitting in front of the fire making smores. And she just kept making them, one after the other until she had three pretty tall stacks going. After her visit at the book store, she had handwavily bought the stuff to fix them. Her's seemed to be just a little messy. But they were good that way. She's already had two. No three. There might have been chocolate smeared on her chin. And fingers. Probably her shirt too where she tried to wipe her fingers clean.
Friends were getting hurt, there was some psycho out there doing it, and all of it was just discomforting. She needed a big shotgun. Or at least a taser in each hand.
So she was cooking and eating and doing a pretty good job of it.
(it's open, yes, to anyone.)

She bit her lip as she came near. "Um, hi, Annette."

She eyed her warily, "Hi, Turtle." Geeze.

Annette eyed her plate of s'mores then looked at Turtle. "I guess you're gonna want a s'more too? Fine. Take one." What the crap was in her bag that she was acting so weird over?

She winced. "Er, um, I mean..." She shook her head. "Sorry. Knee-jerk reaction, really. Listen, Annette, I've been doing a lot of thinking..."
no subject
As it was, she said nothing, just stared at her.
Something was definitely up.
"Uh-huh. Does it hurt? This thinking?" Annette smacked her knee and chuckled. "Ooops, my bad. Knee-jerk reaction, really."

She had managed to keep from saying that wait, no, a perv like Annette would probably like that too much. She drew in a breath instead. "I totally even brought you a peace offering," she held out the bag.
no subject
Wait. What the hell?
Annette glanced at the bag then met Turtle's gaze, "You brought me a peace offering? Just out of the blue? Excuse me while I fine tune my skepticism." She looked up at the night sky for two seconds. "Okay, I'm done, what did you bring me?"
no subject
No, no, no, that'll ruin everything. She had a good plan and she was sticking to it. "Annette," Turtle bounced a little with a whine. "Seriously. With everything that's been going on and people getting hurt, it's really...well, lame of us to be this petty and mean to each other..."
Man, Turtle should have been an actress, being able to lay on the lines like that and keep a straight face. Or a lawyer.

"Hey, baby." he said, sitting down next to her.

Spotting Annette, she made her way over to her friend. At least one of her friends hadn't been hurt... she hated to add a yet to that sentence.
"Hey."

"But at least you're okay." Tori was glad for that. "You are okay, right?"
no subject
"Oh, yeah, I'm okay. I'm perfectly normal. Are you? Aside from feeling helpless?"
no subject
"Good, I'm glad. I don't know if I could stand anyone else getting hurt by that thing." She admitted, her voice shaking slightly. "I think I'm okay, yeah. Been keeping busy with TAing and working at the bookstore. Surfing, too. You?"
no subject
"I'm sorry, Tori. I hate seeing you so shaken up. Someone out there will nail this person or thing that is causing such havoc. It's inevitable. And hopefully it will be done soon. And yeah, same with me - workshops and work and just yeah, keeping very busy."
no subject
"Thanks Annette." She sighed. "I sure hope so. We managed to get through the school being blown up, I have a feeling we'll get through this. I know good people are working on figuring out a way to stop him." Tori admitted, thinking of Wyatt and Chris. "Yeah, busy is good."
