Fourth Floor Common Room [late evening]

Aravis could, once again, not sleep. So tonight she was curled up on the couch (where she had absolutely not fallen asleep the night before) and was watching whatever had come up on the television while sipping tea and poking at a roll of something called Rolos that she'd handwavily gotten earlier, along with a heap of other candies.

She would probably welcome company. And maybe share her candy. Maybe.

"You know the native foods, then?" she asked, her smile broadening. "I'm not so fortunate, so I am trying to familiarize myself. My name is Aravis. Forgive me for not making an introduction sooner."

"I'm Teddy," He replied, plopping down on the couch. "And I am a native. For the most part."

"For the most part?" she prompted.

"Well, I think most of us are from a version of this, but not exactly the same one for each of us," He explained. Because not everyone had mutants and aliens and people coming back from the dead and invasions back home.

She nodded slowly. "But this world, essentially? From where do you hail?"

"Yeah, this world," He confirmed. "I'm from New York."

And now he just had to ask. "Where are you from?"

"Calormen by way of Archenland," she said. "It's another world, far from here."

Teddy just nodded and accepted it as that. Too many people from weird places to gawk or flail anymore.

"And there's no Skittles there, I take it."

"No," she said with a smile. "Nor chocolate of any kind. I feel most deprived."

Teddy looked absolutely horrified. "As you should! How is that possible?"

"We simply don't have it," she said, shrugging. "But! But I am making up for it. I have tried ice cream and popcorn and Twinkies and marshmallows and any number of sweets."

"Good!" What kind of cruel world was chocolate-less? "Have you tried pizza yet?"

She nodded happily. "Last night. And chocolate milk and soda and there are so many things to eat here. It makes the food at home seem dull by comparison."

"You could try bringing some stuff back home to see if they can make it there," Teddy suggested. Because maybe they just hadn't figured it out yet.

"I thought of that!" she said. "But I'd need to make a full trip, and I'm not certain the chocolate, at least, would last."

"From eating or the trip?"

"...the answer I would give them would be that it melted," she said innocently.

Teddy laughed. "Well you could try bringing a really large amount and see what happens with that."

"I live with twin sixteen year-old boys at court," she said with a little laugh. "It would likely last an hour, if that."
