Located in the fifth floor common room was Jeff. His hair was wet (for reasons he'd rather not divulge but which did not involve either showers or being outside), he was sitting propped up against a pillow (for reasons he'd rather not divulge and dearly hoped a particular someone else wouldn't either), and he was zapping pretty quickly from one channel to the next. Although he'd rather not divulge his reasons for doing so (now there was a surprise), he was in fact looking for Channel 4, but for one reason or another that someone entirely else must have come up with (and probably wouldn't divulge either, karmically), he kept running into BBC World instead (he was starting to suspect foul play).

Eventually he gave up and switched to what he considered to be the closest thing: a nature documentary about rather enthusiastic apes. His life was so exciting.

Faile sat crossed-legged on the floor in front of the TV. She tucked her divided skirts around her bare feet and leaned forward a bit more.

"Do it again," she commanded John who sat on the couch behind her, holding the remote control.

After work, John set himself up with food and in the common room.  He flipped through the channels before settling on the thriller The Bleating of the Bunnies.  "What kind of person would wear someone's skin?" he asked the screen, shaking his head.

Obviously John hadn't read the book.

Never leave decorating for a party to the mellow. There were some streamers tossed around and one of those fold-out crinkly hanging ball things dangling from a string that was duct taped to the ceiling. A stack of festive party hats tilted rather precariously on top of Jude's displaced stereo, which was playing something bouncy and probably from before he was born.

Food, however, was an excellent thing to leave to the mellow. Well, to the Jude anyway. A mismatched array of bowls held a mismatched yet delicious array of snacks and there were drinks of all kinds "liberated" from every common room that had anything in the fridge. Sadly, there were no milkshakes. Most of Jude's efforts had been put into the cake. The triple-layer (the base in chocolate, the middle slab in white, and the top in orange) cake decorated in as many clashing colours of icing as Jude could find. There was bright orange trim with purple and blue rosettes wherever he could fit them, and 'happy birthday, Rikku' in shaky cursive across the very top in hot pink. Sprinkles, marzipan, and gum drops were present in abundance. It was a cavity waiting to happen. And Jude was making sure no one touched it until all sixteen candles had been blown out.

Of course, until then, he was just going to sing "Sixteen Candles" to himself. A lot.

[[Rikku's impromptu birthday party is now open! OCD coming up, go and play!]]

Rory was having a hell of a day.

"Vladdie, please get off the ceiling."

"But can see betterest up here!"

"You can see on the couch, too."

"But I like the ceeeeeeeiling! Sometimes Cranky Lady with Big Pointy Thing has a kitty that sits on the ceiling with me!"

"...Alanna and Faithful aren't here anymore."

"I don't waaaaaaanna get dow --"

"VLADDIE, GET OFF THE CEILING."

A wee little boy reluctantly floated down from the ceiling to sit on the couch beside a harried-looking Rory, who firmly snugged an arm around him so he couldn't fly off, and turned on the television to something bright and loud.

[open. Vladdie's about three in people years because toddlers are more fun than infants. And yes, he can still fly.]

It was a really nice morning and Molly missed the cabins and the campfire pits enough to grab a blanket and a few comics and go sit outside in the sun to read. Spreading the blanket out, she sat down and tucked the comics under her leg. The plan to read lasted all of two minutes as she flopped onto her back and just enjoyed the weather.

Anyone wondering why there is loud booming noises this late at night might find that it would be the result of a muppet playing drums.

Loudly.

While wearing a mumu with balloons stuffed under it.

It's probably best not to ask why. Not that Animal would be able to explain it anyway.

Especially since Animal is in the middle of a drum solo that would make Neil Peart want to stab his eyes out with his own drumsticks.

"BEAT DRUM! BEAT DRUM!"

Aravis could, once again, not sleep. So tonight she was curled up on the couch (where she had absolutely not fallen asleep the night before) and was watching whatever had come up on the television while sipping tea and poking at a roll of something called Rolos that she'd handwavily gotten earlier, along with a heap of other candies.

She would probably welcome company. And maybe share her candy. Maybe.

Judas was sitting at the Kraken campfire.

Okay, it was just Jude, but he felt so un-Jude when he was all goth-y that he started thinking of himself as Judas. Long story. Involving vomitting in a girl's mouth. And a vibrating chair.

He was actually on his way to change and wash his face off, but was getting there in his slow, mellow, Jude-like way. Which meant chilling by the campfire and fixing his skateboard.

[[Open. Oh yes.]]
