Fourth Floor Common Room [late evening]

Aravis could, once again, not sleep. So tonight she was curled up on the couch (where she had absolutely not fallen asleep the night before) and was watching whatever had come up on the television while sipping tea and poking at a roll of something called Rolos that she'd handwavily gotten earlier, along with a heap of other candies.

She would probably welcome company. And maybe share her candy. Maybe.

Seely continued grinning. "Yes, you were."

"No I wasn't!" she protested. "And I was not asleep, I was merely resting my eyes."

"Completely adorable. For several hours."

"...you stayed that long?"

"I didn't want to wake you up," Seely said, as if that should have been perfectly obvious.

"You could have!" she said, starting to blush now. "Not that I was asleep."

"It wasn't exactly a great hardship," Seely pointed out. "Regardless of whether you were asleep or not, which you were."

"I wasn't, and I wouldn't want someone asleep on my shoulder all night. It sounds tedious," she said.

"Pity," Seely faked a yawn. "Because I'm kind of sleepy, and very comfortable here."

Aravis squirmed, and hid a yawn of her own. "Well, you should let me go," she said. "And sleep."

Seely yawned again, wider this time. "Can't. Too tired to move at all."

"This is not a position I should like to be stuck in for the remainder of the night," she said, her blush growing.

"Why? Is there something wrong with it?" Seely asked, all innocence.

She gave him a Look.

Seely didn't move his arms, but he did loosen his grip.

Aravis slid out of his lap and down sit on the couch at his side. "I am not tired." It's really too bad that was punctuated by a yawn. It was almost believable.

Seely rolled his eyes and kissed her temple. "Of course you're not."

"I'm also not trapping you here again," she said stubbornly.

"You really think I couldn't pick you up and move you if I didn't want to be trapped?"

Aravis nestled her head against his shoulder. "Thought you didn't want to wake me."

Seely trailed his fingers along her arm. "That too."

"You go to sleep first," she murmured. Not that she was crashing really hard from that sugar high or anything.

Seely closed his eyes and snuggled in closer. "See, I'm asleep."

"Don't believe you," she mumbled, but she didn't really care, either, what with falling asleep.

"That's because you're smart," Seely murmured, pulling the candy out from behind his back and putting it in her lap before attempting to drift off for real, because he was seriously not sleeping on those all night.
