The Roof, Tuesday night

Bel was in an extraordinarily good mood for some reason. He had no idea why, but why bother questioning it? Currently, he was up on the roof, having a cigarette as he enjoyed the cool night air.

"Fine." Anders quirked an amused eyebrow at the grinning and fumbled his cigarettes out of his pocket. "I got you some more of your bath soap, by the way."

"Thanks, that was awfully nice of you," Bel said, conjuring a fireball and holding it out so Anders could light his cigarette.

Okay, that phrase coming out of Bel's mouth was kind of weird. And maybe kind of a little bit wrong, but Anders shook that last bit off.

"Hey, nothing to do with being nice. I try to take care of you," he replied, leaning over to light his cigarette off the fireball. "Part of the boyfriend duty. Y'know."

"And you're good at it," Bel said, closing his hand to extinguish the fireball. "I appreciate it."

Okay, hearing that didn't really throw Anders for a loop; his athlete's ego had been a little hungry for some vocal appreciation. He grinned at Bel through the mouthful of smoke he exhaled. "Do my best. How was work today?"

"The usual," Bel said. "Hot, sweaty, and Conner was annoying. But I got a new hard hat."

"McKnight's always annoying these days," Anders said scornfully. "I saw the hard hat, though. Like you weren't hot enough without help."

Bel beamed. "You're pretty hot yourself," he said.

Okay, his ego was really liking this. Anders allowed himself a tiny smirk and slung an arm around Bel's shoulders. "You are seriously in a mood tonight," he said cheerfully.

"That a complaint?" Bel asked, bumping his shoulder against Anders's.

"Not at all," Anders retorted, and tried to sneak a quick nip in at the side of Bel's neck. "It's nice, seeing you all cheerful and stuff."

Bel made a happy noise. "I don't know," he said. "All of a sudden I was just in this great mood."

"I like seeing you happy," Anders noted, punctuating it with another nip. "I hope it lasts, 'cause it's nice."

He slipped both arms around Bel's waist and tried to see if he could get away with a little bit of a snuggle.

Bel put his arm around Anders's shoulders, definitely into the snuggling. "Glad you like it," he said.

Wow, he was actually snuggling. Anders almost squeed, but that would be incredibly undignified.

Okay, he allowed himself a tiny little mental squee.

"Like you," he retorted playfully. "A lot."

"I like you, too," Bel said, nuzzling Anders's neck as he tossed his cigarette so he could have both hands free.

Whoa. It was really working, wasn't it? Anders closed his eyes and made a soft happy noise as he relaxed into the nuzzling. "How much?" he teased.

"A lot," Bel murmured, letting his hands wander.

"Good to know," Anders drawled in response. It was nice having Bel be this affectionate. It really was.

He was also not quite above taking advantage of this to alleviate some of his frustration of late . . . in various ways.

"And here I was starting to worry you only kept me around 'cause I was pretty and the sex was good."

"Those are just bonuses," Bel said. "Not the only reasons, though, you know that."

"It was hard to tell sometimes," Anders replied honestly, running his hands lightly down Bel's back. "You don't usually outright say so."

"Huh," Bel said thoughtfully. "I should, shouldn't I?"

"It'd be nice." Anders leaned in to kiss him lightly. "Just, you know, every now and then or something. Doesn't have to be all the time."

"You're so demanding," Bel teased, kissing him back.

"Not as demanding as I could be," retorted Anders. "At the moment, all I'm demanding is snuggles. Is that so much to ask for?"
