Cheerleader Practice, Wednesday, Afternoon, Gym

Buffy was extra bouncy today since it was the last practice she'd be to for a while. She made everything ready, and then when everyone had arrived, she clapped her hands. "Hey guys! I thought I'd let you know that I've given a suggestion for a cheer camp list... thing... paper to the office, and I'm hoping for a positive reply! I'm going home - well, to my mom - next week, so this'll be my last practice until fall semester." She glanced over at Alec and then Aly and grinned. "I'm sure Alec and Coach Aly will take good care of you all."

She clapped her hands again. "Okay, have a great practice everyone!"

ooc: I blame the Doctor and the Master for this being up so late. Sorry!
Wait for OCD. OCD is up!

"Absolutely right, and you are John, if I remember correctly?" he asked with a smile. "We never did get to speak in class, so it's good to meet you properly."

"Yup," John replied, smiling. "Cheering's a great sport, huh?"

Karal looked from John to the cheerleaders and back in confusion. "Is it a sport?" he asked. "I thought it was an adjunct to other sports, not one in its own right."

John peered at Karal, and determined he wasn't kidding. "Yeah, I wouldn't say that to anyone on the squad if you cherish your well-being," John informed him. "They cheered when there were no teams to cheer for."

"Oh," he said thoughtfully. "Well, they certainly are, umm, skilled enough that I could see how it might be a sport. And thank you for the advice. I didn't intend to offer an insult. We don't have cheerleaders where I come from." They barely had sports, but at least he was familiar with the concept.

John chuckled, "I don't know that I'd like living in a place that didn't have cheerleaders."

"We have magic?" he offered, casting about for something Karse had. "It is, umm, well, it may not be quite as pleasant to look at as cheerleaders, but it can do incredible things."

"My roommate does magic, it's pretty cool," John offered. "I may be more biased toward cheerleading than expected cuz so many of my friends are on the squad."

I can not actually do magic," he said hastily. "I am a priest, not a mage. And I can understand that. I'm only here because a friend of mine is part of the squad."

"Oh? Who's your friend?" John asked.

"Molly," he said with a small smile, pointing her out. Not that he didn't know - and like - other people on the squad, but Molly happened to be why he was here.

John saw the small smile and grinned. "Ah! Molls is my friend, too," he said. "We started flag football together."

"Oh! She told me about that," he said, still watching Molly. "She is going to explain how it works to me. Was going to at the last practice, but I wasn't able to be there."

Re: Audience

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
"That's too bad," John said, following Karal's eyes watching Molly. "After Molls explains it, if you find yourself interested in playing, we're open to adding players to the teams."

Re: Audience

"Thank you for the offer," he said, finally turning to smile at John, blushing a little as he realised what he'd been doing. "Unless I could ride my horse, I probably won't take you up on it. But I would like to watch a game played."

Re: Audience

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I don't think the horse would be very welcome on the field or in the gym," John smirked. "You should come on Sunday. I'm sure Molly'll be there," he added.

Re: Audience

"His hooves would scratch the floor," he said inanely, blushing more at the smirk, and turning back to the gym. "I will be there, so Molly can explain the rules to me. There is no point watching a sport if you do not understand what you're watching."

Re: Audience

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, there's a lot of background knowledge required for understanding in sports," John replied, very amused by the blushing.

Re: Audience

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
"The last time I saw a sport, a proper sport, played I was nine years old, and that involved horses." The blush was slowly fading and he grinned at John. "Some of the children at the Cloister used to kick a rag ball around, but it was not organised and I wasn't one of them. So a bit of background would probably be a help."

Re: Audience

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2007-06-28 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Proper, improper, a sport's a sport," John said, smiling at Karal. "I bet the kids with the rag ball were having a good time."

"From the noises, I suspect they were." Karal shook his head at the memory. "I was most often in the library, but I will be there on Sunday, and I am sure I will enjoy it."
