The Gym - Thursday morning

Johnny started with a five to ten minute aerobic program, then he followed with stretching exercises to all muscle groups. Moving on from there he performed a light work out with adequate resistance, causing his body to warm considerably.

After that, he began a series of dumbell exercises, from flat dumbell presses to incline flies. He was working his upper body strength today as well as his abs and legs. Now he was working on front raises with his knees slightly bent, the dumbell against his thighs, palms towards his body.

It was a great work out and one he needed. He had been neglecting his body for too long. Imagine that? And wanted a good work out this morning that would last a good couple hours. More than likely it would be followed by a swim at the pool.

Savannah had also decided to hit the gym as it had made her feel better the other day when she had been there. She smiled when she saw Johnny and tried not to watch him too much as she started running her laps around the gym.

Johnny glanced at Savannah, knew she was there, but it was hard to pay attention to her when he was grinding down on his jaw in an attempt to lift more weight. He really should have a spotter. But anyone who knew Johnny, knew that he wasn't so bright at times.

As Savannah had never lifted weights, she didn't realize that Johnny should have a spotter. However, her concern for him made her come to the punching bag next so she could kind of keep an eye on him if he needed any help.

Releasing the dumbell when she came over, Johnny grinned slightly at her, and wiped his face with the towel he had lying off to the side.

"Morning, sweetheart."

Savannah gave a few punches to the bag while she watched him, and when he set the weight down, she smiled back at him.

"Morning, hun. How are you?"

"Hot and sweaty," he said with a wink and eyed the punching bag. "Work out often?"

"Not always a bad thing," she said with a slight blush. She smiled. "Sometimes. I like staying in shape and looking nice."

Was that innuendo? Johnny thought that was innuendo, so he let his eyes move over Savannah in appreciation of her work out attire. Yes.

"You are doing a very good job of it too, if I might say so."

Savannah smiled at him. "Thank you, Johhny. It's always nice when someone notices."

She looked at the weight set.

"You lift those a lot?"

"I would think that you were noticed a lot, Savannah." A man would have to be nearly blind to not notice her.

Smiling, he looked down at his weights. "I try. I haven't been to the gym in over a week so am working myself to the bone - so to speak."

Savannah smiled and then looked at the weights with interest.

"How did you get into weight lifting?"

"Started when I was younger," he shrugged a shoulder, "Just something I enjoyed doing once I hit high school. Been keeping it up ever since." He looked over at her. "You ever lift?"

Savannah came closer and shook her head. "No, never have. Is it hard to start?"

River had been trying to do exercise while on Serenity, but the cargo hold wasn't as nicely suited for the purpose as the gym at Fandom. On the other hand, the one in Scotland had been more impressive, especially in the supply of knives.

She quietly stepped into the room, walked over to a free part and began to practice a sequence of kicks and punches. When moving, the world around her seemed to stop and only the next step was in her mind.

He gave her an iffy sort of look, "No, not hard, just got to start light and easy and work your way up. Plus, you're a girl. You don't wanna look like me, do you?" Johnny teased her.

Johnny saw River. And totally didn't look at her breasts despite their conversation the other day.

Okay, who was he kidding? He did look at her breasts. But not for long, he was seriously trying to get in some work out time here.

Savannah smiled. "I like the way you look..." Then she blushed again. "I don't think I would look good with so many muscles."

Before he went to make breakfast, since Neil was an annoyingly early riser, he headed down to the gym to get in a little work with a soccer ball.

It kept him nimble and would also work off all the food he'd consumed at the BBQ the night before!

Between lifts, if Neil glanced over, Johnny would totally do the whole nod and greet thing.

River didn't even notice Johnny looking at her breasts, or rather, her mind didn't register it as important during exercise. Not that she minded anyway, but right now people around her would only catch her interest as opponents.

"Do you now?" Johnny totally flexed here without trying to appear that he was flexing. Which might really not look right.

"No, definitely not. And your breasts would turn into hard, round baseballs. Very unpleasant in my opinion." What? It was his opinion!

The kicks and punches kept his attention for a minute more and he wondered what it would be like to spar with her. Not that Johnny was much of a kicker, but hey, girl with long legs? He was totally up for that.

Savannah was totally aware of what he was doing and when he started ralking about the rest, she grinned and then blushed.

"Yeah, we definitely wouldn't want that to happen."

In between a bit of quick dribble work with the ball, Neil happened to catch Johnny's glance and he gave the other boy a quick, ready smile.

That thought reached through to River and she stopped and turned, letting a raised eyebrow ask the question wordlessly. She'd try not to hurt him.
