Third Floor Common Room - Thursday Late Morning

Neil had been spending much of the break week holed up learning one of Shakespeare's comedic monologues. Now, having knocked his desk lamp off the desk for about the fifth time in so many hours, he'd decided to take it out into the common room, where he had a bit more room to bounce on the furniture as he ran the lines.

If he also happened to be cooking some bacon and making some toast while also receiting the lines, well ... he was getting to be fairly good at multi-tasking!

[ooc: Open!]

Chad who was just about to make a post of this exact time and place lol was really making an honest attempt at that whole getting up early thing. He had to. Which explained why he was shuffling like the dead into the common room, groping around for the coffee maker.

He grunted a greeting to Neil, too, but wasn't quite awake enough to even tell what Neil was saying.

Precious coffee maker found, Chad clumsily got some of it brewing. The smell alone of the promised elixir was enough to improve his answer to Neil from an indistinguishable grunt to something that sounded astonishingly like a very rough 'yes, please.'

Even after it was in Chad's system, 'yes or no' was probably a good idea.

"Yeah," he grunted; it was hard to tell if he was just staring intently at the coffee machine to will it to brew faster or if he was falling back asleep, with that hair over his eyes like that. "You?"

Chad narrowed his eyes at the coffee machine. Was it just going to let Neil beat him like that in the offering of stuff?

...Guess so. Chad grunted, taking up the plate. "Thanks, Neil. Yeah. Those were some...fireworks."

Saying 'fireworks' took a little effort, not being quite past monosyllabic yet.

Neil had chosen wisely. Chad grinned a little. "Best summer ever," he said. "How's yours been?"

Oh, hey! Bacon! He thought he smelled bacon. He grabbed a piece, popped it into his mouth, and then rummaged through the cupboard for a mug. "Coffee?" he offered before he closed the cupboard so he could grab a mug for Neil, too.

"Good," Chad nodded and then, yay, the coffee looked like it was finished so he pored himself a cup and Neil a cup, and handed it to him. After taking a moment to blow into the mug as if to cool the first sip (which never really actually worked), he took a drink and his shoulders settled with a happy sigh. "S'way too early."

"Gotta get ready," Chad said, his deep tone almost mournful. "Takin' an early morning workshop, so I have to train myself to not always sleep in until noon."

Mmmmm, coffee. And bacon. Mornings were shaping up to be not so bad at the moment.

"What'd you sign up for?" he asked after a moment of letting the breakfast work its awakening magic a little longer.

"Those sound fun," Chad commented.

Chad considered this for a moment, scratching the back of his head thoughtfully. "I think it's more," he said, "about encouraging safe mass destruction

"Yeah, so you don't blow off an arm, like you said," Chad said, then looked at Neil, caught his tone, and frowned. "Hey, you're taking the class, not me."

"Good luck," Chad offered, sipping his coffee some more, deciding it had cooled enough, and then downed about half of it.
