Third Floor Common Room - Thursday Late Morning
Neil had been spending much of the break week holed up learning one of Shakespeare's comedic monologues. Now, having knocked his desk lamp off the desk for about the fifth time in so many hours, he'd decided to take it out into the common room, where he had a bit more room to bounce on the furniture as he ran the lines.
If he also happened to be cooking some bacon and making some toast while also receiting the lines, well ... he was getting to be fairly good at multi-tasking!

who was just about to make a post of this exact time and place lolwas really making an honest attempt at that whole getting up early thing. He had to. Which explained why he was shuffling like the dead into the common room, groping around for the coffee maker. He grunted a greeting to Neil, too, but wasn't quite awake enough to even tell what Neil was saying.

He considered speaking in Bardspearian tongue but quickly reminded himself that Chad was a heck of a lot bigger than he was and that it was not nice to tease half awake individuals.
"Morning, Chad! Would you mayhap like some bacon and toast?"
...
Okay, a little bit of 'speak' snuck in there.

Yes, this was his attempt to balance the harm of the bacon with the good of the toast.
"Did you have fun last night down at the beach?" He asked as he worked, figuring that sticking to 'yes or no' questions would be a good thing till Chad actually got the coffee into his system.

"Yeah," he grunted; it was hard to tell if he was just staring intently at the coffee machine to will it to brew faster or if he was falling back asleep, with that hair over his eyes like that. "You?"

"Here you go."

...Guess so. Chad grunted, taking up the plate. "Thanks, Neil. Yeah. Those were some...fireworks."
Saying 'fireworks' took a little effort, not being quite past monosyllabic yet.

"They really were pretty," he agreed and then took pity on Chad and went for another 'yes or no' question. "Are you having a good summer?"

Oh, hey! Bacon! He thought he smelled bacon. He grabbed a piece, popped it into his mouth, and then rummaged through the cupboard for a mug. "Coffee?" he offered before he closed the cupboard so he could grab a mug for Neil, too.
no subject
"Please!" Neil said in response to the offer of coffee and he leaned his hip against the counter, making himself a little bacon sandwich.
"It's been really good actually. Much more relaxing than my summers usually are, even with Fandom weirdness cropping up now and again."

"What has you up so early?"

"What'd you sign up for?" he asked after a moment of letting the breakfast work its awakening magic a little longer.

"Let me think, Ethics, How to be a superhero and the one on blowing stuff up without losing a limb. I only did two last session and felt a bit like a slacker."
