Fourth Floor Common Room [late evening]

Aravis lounged on the couch with a much smaller assortment of candy than the last time she'd tried this. She idly flipped through channels until she hit a film about some man named James Bund, who seemed to be competent enough with his weaponry and who seemed to attract irritating women like moths to a flame.

Mmm. Violence and spies and pretty people. Aravis made herself more comfortable and settled in to watch.

"Hey Aravis," Mel said jumping on to the couch. "What's shaking?"

"The couch, now," Aravis said, watching. "What is up with you, Mel?"

"Just got back from patrol," Mel replied. "I'm happy to report that the island is still vampire free. What's on the tube?"

"Seely has a box, what?"

"No! Not Seely. I'm talking about the television," Mel said pointing at it. "What's on?"

After her phone call and some quality bitching-in-her-diary time, Jenny trooped down to the common room. "Hello, all you lot."

"Good evening," Aravis said, glancing up.

Jenny curled up in the same chair she'd appropriated the night before, lit herself a cigarette, and glanced at the screen. "He's actually not that great in bed," she commented.

Aravis stared at her. "Excuse me?"

Jenny waved her cigarette at the screen. "The guy playing Bund. Not that great in bed, really."

"You've...with him?" Aravis asked, still staring. "Well. Not my taste, but...I'm sorry he wasn't better for you?"

"So was I," Jenny grumbled. "There were excessive amounts of alcohol involved," she admitted.

"Hello yourself," Mel said with a wave. "You one of the newbies?"

"That's me," Jenny said. "I'm Jenny Sparks, and you would be...?"

"Melaka Fray," she replied. "You from earth or from some other weird place?"

Jenny thought about that for a moment. "Yes." Then she decided to have mercy and explain herself. "I'm from Earth. But I most recently lived on an interdimensional spaceship the size of a city."

"Rocketship," Mel said looking impressed. "I'm from 200 years in the future myself."

Seely wandered into the common room, and made a beeline for the couch. "Hey."

Aravis grinned. "Evening. What have you been doing with yourself all day?"

"Nothing much," Seely said, flopping down on the couch. "Said goodbye to Buffy and read comics mostly."

"Is she leaving?" Aravis wondered, looking concerned.

"Just for the rest of summer," Seely said. "She'll be back in the fall." He pouted. "She said I couldn't lead a coup to take over the cheer squad."

"Generally, this is why it's a bad idea to tell the captain before the coup," Aravis replied, holding out a piece of red licorice. "Eat this. I've no idea what it is but it's divine."
