Fourth Floor Common Room [evening]

Aravis was bored, and in a particularly lazy mood.

Which was why there was a lethargic Aravis lounging on one of the couches, a sleeping rat on her stomach and a puppy at her feet (when he wasn't scampering around and nosing at things in the room.)

She idly flipped through the channels, slowly polishing off the last of her candy stash.

Setsuna was certainly going to avoid the third floor common room tonight. Thankfully, that's what the nice, usually calm common room on her floor was for. She came in and nodded to Aravis. "Hello; you don't mind if I join you, do you?" With a smile, she added, "Those are adorable pets."

"Thank you, and of course I don't mind. Good evening," Aravis replied with a little smile. "The rat is an assigned pet. I'm not really a...rodent lover, normally."

"Neither am I," Setsuna admitted with a light smile back as she took a seat, "but a rat is still better than an ermine. It's for that creature's class, right? Have you named yours? Alphonse and I have been having a terrible time trying to name his hamster."

"Maggie," she supplied. "I let Seely name her, as I've...no idea what a rat should be named, and she didn't have a name already."

"Ohhh." Yes, Setsuna may have been gushing slightly, though she certainly wouldn't ever admit it. "I think that's a lovely name." To bad it was already taken, then. And that Alphonse's hamster was a male, anyway. Or so they thought. Neither of them had really thought to check, really.

Aravis grinned. "It's for Magpie, because of her markings, but since she's not a bird I didn't think it was right to call her that. What's a hamster?"

Naminé stepped in to the common room, sketchbook in tow, and gave her cabinmate a smile. "If I brought my cat along, we could have a menagerie," she observed.

"Hello, Naminé. You have a cat?" Aravis asked, smiling over at her. "A new acquisition, I assume?"

Naminé beamed. "A white fluffy one named Alea. Should I fetch her, or do you think they might not get along with one another? And yes, I've only had her a little more than a week. Our Creatures professor helped me find her, at that store he has downtown."

"He's very good with cats! Or at least, with Altra. And Maggie should be fine as long as I don't let her run about on the floor, and I don't see any chance of that happening with her so unconscious." She grinned. "These both came from him, though funnily enough I did not choose either."

"If you're quite certain it's all right, then I shall get her. I promise I'll watch to be sure she isn't sniffing too close to Maggie." She smiled. "Another assignment? Or did he hand the dog to you straightaway with a simple, 'This is the only pet in the world who will do for you'?"

Seely flopped heavily on the couch, and turned his head towards Aravis. "Hey gorgeous."

"Yes, Maggie is a very pretty rat," Aravis replied.

"Dammit, steal my joke why don't you?" Seely said. "But she also has a very pretty owner."

Aravis smiled over at him. "Thank you. Has your day been very exciting? Because mine has not."

"I've been sleeping mostly," Seely replied, smiling back. "Little bit of reading."

It was too hot in Will's room, so she felt the need to get out for a bit. She wandered down to the common room at the end of the hallway, and curled up on a couch.

"Mind if I join you for a bit?" she asked.

"Of course not, unless you mind dogs or rats," Aravis replied. "Good evening, Will."

"Good evening," Will replied cheerily. "Well, they're not as cute as frog's but they're still nice. Are you one of those people who got pets as part of that one class?"

"That would be Maggie," she said, nodding and gesturing to the rat. "And Ata was a gift," she added, nodding to the puppy. "He's very friendly. And Maggie is very asleep."

Ata waddled over to sniff curiously at Will.

Will reached out to scritch Ata behind the ear. "Aww, aren't you such a cutie," she cooed.

She looked back up at Aravis. "So how are your classes going?"

"Hey, Will," Seely waved.

"Hey, Seely!' she said, waving back. "What's new?"

"I got chewed on by a T-Rex."

She blinked, and then tilted her head to look at him better. "How was that? she asked, not quite sure how else to reply to a comment like that.
