Third Floor Common Room - Friday after 1st Period Workshops

After work and a couple hours spent up fiddling with his jigsaw puzzle, Neil had almost overslept for his class that morning. This meant that he hadn't gotten a chance to have breakfast, only having enough time to dash through the shower and grab coffee as he headed for workshop.

Back now, he was STARVING! Thus, he fell upon the kitchen area of the common room like a fiend, soon filling the area with the scene of cooking bacon and pancakes today. Eggs just weren't going to cut it for brunch!

Neil merely gave Andrew a look and added more bacon to the skillet. Then he reached for the bowl of pancake batter, giving it a stir before adding some extra to the griddle he had fired up.

"How many pancakes would you like?"

Andrew gave Neil a big smile and with a little hop, said, "Two or three -- or four if they're small." He peered round Neil to look at the griddle. "I love pancakes -- and funnel cakes! Have you ever made those?"

Chuckling, Neil ducked his shoulder a little so that Andrew could watch.

"No, I'm afraid funnel cakes are beyond me. I know how to cook sausage, bacon, toast, eggs, pancakes and PB&J. That's about it. Oh and I can squeeze orange jucie ... if I have oranges."

Forking up a piece of bacon fresh from the skillet and patted dry of it's grease, he held it up for Andrew to take.

Andrew savored the bacon, "Let me take a moment to thank pigs for being so tasty." He bowed his head.

Glancing up at Neil, "And thanks to the chef for getting perfectly crispy, with just a hint of burn, just like I like it."

"I read your braaaaiiinnn and knew how you liked your bacon," Neil teased, even though he did nothing of the sort but he was very pleased to have gotten lucky first crack out of the barrel.

"Grab some syrup if you'd like. Everything's about ready!"

Andrew used a lot of syrup.

"So when do you think we'll hear something back about the auditions for the musical? I think my voice was a little off, but overall, I have high hopes."

Neil might have felt a moment's fear for Andrew's teeth but he quickly shook it off and looked to his own bacon.

"I hope we here something soon," he agreed though he wasn't sure if he wanted the news to be positive or negative.

It was ... complicated.

"Well, I'm sure you'll be on stage -- if not the lead. You were great up there. I've always wanted to be in the limelight. It wouldn't even have to be a major part, just some role where I can be a complete scene stealer in front of the audience. I'm always back stage, moving props, pulling ropes, whispering moral support..."

Andrew took a giant bite of syrup laden pancakes. "'Ee's are 'eally goo'!"

"Oh, I didn't sign up for the lead, I just wanted one of the supporting positions," Neil admitted as he sat there and watched Andrew with something akin to admiration and perhaps a little fear.

Good gracious, his poor teeth!
