In the early part of the evening, Abigail headed down to the common room, and set up for the party. There were snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, along with a few opaque bottles of alcohol that were all labeled at the bottom with what was inside. If she was going to get into trouble for her efforts, at least she'd get into a lot of trouble at the same time.

Next to the snacks were a bowl of breath mints, and a sign labeled "RULES":

1. You don't have to kiss anyone you don't want to.
2. You don't have to kiss anyone period. Passive voyeurs are welcome. Dirty voyeurs will get kicked out.
3. If you take pictures, you must promise to send a copy to Abigail Whistler, or your camera will be taken away.
4. All kissing must be done with someone of the same sex. There's liquor here for a reason!
5. If you move past the kissing stage, take it to a room unless you're comfortable with everyone watching.

Yeah, she definitely wasn't going to be telling her dad about this the next time she called home.

"I've no idea. It's strong," Aravis said with a shrug. "If I'm to be kissing girls to annoy this Umbridge witch, I'd like to be properly tipsy."

"I never imagined that taking part in a rebellion would involve kissing," she shrugged. "Might I have a sip of that? Before I go roaming off for bottles and conjuring up my own."

Aravis held out her cup. "I didn't think so either, considering I've kissed one person and expect that number to jump tonight just to make a point."

"Then we have that in common," Naminé mused, "for I've kissed one person, and it was within the past month. I'm not certain if we are ... I don't know what the proper term is, so I hope he won't be terribly upset that I'm rebelling."

She took a tentative sip, then followed it with rather a larger swallow. "That's delightful. It makes me feel rather glowy." She laughed. "I can see why these may be helpful, then."

"Dating?" Aravis offered. "You're not certain if you're dating and you get to use that stupid word as a label for him?"

"That would be it," Naminé said with a nod. "Someone asked if we were a 'thing,' and I hadn't an answer. Following that, are we exclusive? And from there, would he be terribly upset that I came to a party to observe girls kissing one another but am starting to think that perhaps I'm going to participate?"

She looked at the cup apologetically. "I believe I've taken rather more of your drink than I intended."

"There's plenty more," Aravis said, waving a hand dismissively. "If these are questions, perhaps it will be fine? It's not as though you require permission, anyway. Your lips, after all, are your own to do with as you wish."

"Very true. And if he didn't wish me to kiss others, he could have said so. This will show him what happens when you are ambiguous." Naminé walked over to the table and began sorting through the bottles. "Which of these are the ones that make you feel floaty, and which are the ones that merely taste as though someone has done terrible things in your mouth?"

Aravis pointed to the bottle she'd poured from. "That's what I'm having. I'm not really familiar with drinks that aren't mead or ale or or wine, unfortunately, but I liked it. And really, it's entirely his fault. Seely does not actually know I am here, but he is not my master and I can kiss people if I want and it does not mean anything."

That she had his approval and knew it? Totally irrelevant right now.

Naminé laughed. "To freedom, then! And expression and not being owned or whatever else we were saying. And to our possible dates not having the sense to speak up and to whatever is in this bottle, because it smells heavenly."

She poured rather a large drink for herself and one for Aravis as well, holding her cup raised for a toast.

Aravis tilted her cup against Naminé's. "To...all of that, yes. And also to the revolution! And annoying that dratted woman!"

And then she drank. Quite a bit.

"I cannot believe her. I went to speak with her and she was dreadful. Rude and she's intimidating the non-human students and oooh, I feel a bit flushed." Naminé smiled.
