In the early part of the evening, Abigail headed down to the common room, and set up for the party. There were snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, along with a few opaque bottles of alcohol that were all labeled at the bottom with what was inside. If she was going to get into trouble for her efforts, at least she'd get into a lot of trouble at the same time.

Next to the snacks were a bowl of breath mints, and a sign labeled "RULES":

1. You don't have to kiss anyone you don't want to.
2. You don't have to kiss anyone period. Passive voyeurs are welcome. Dirty voyeurs will get kicked out.
3. If you take pictures, you must promise to send a copy to Abigail Whistler, or your camera will be taken away.
4. All kissing must be done with someone of the same sex. There's liquor here for a reason!
5. If you move past the kissing stage, take it to a room unless you're comfortable with everyone watching.

Yeah, she definitely wasn't going to be telling her dad about this the next time she called home.

"A bit, yes," Aravis said happily. "It's nice to do something to that awful woman, and is she really going to round up the lot of us and put us in detention? I doubt it. Oh! I am Aravis. It's nice to meet you."

"Jo," she said. "I think we have some classes together."

"We had Whatever class," Aravis agreed, nodding. "And the animals one! Have you kissed many girls?"

"Not really," Jo said. "It's kinda a new experience for me."

"Me as well," Aravis admitted. "But I like rebelling!"

Jo nodded. "And there are worse ways to go about it."

"Stupid woman," Aravis grumbled. "Would you like to, then?"

Jo smiled agreeably. "Sure thing."

Aravis smiled. "I don't much see the point in pretending anyone's here for anything other than this," she admitted, leaning in.

Jo grinned back and somewhat awkwardly put her hands on Aravis's hips as she also leant in.

Aravis set her hands on Jo's shoulders, which was very odd because she was used to having to reach much higher, and leaned all the way in to kiss her.

Jo was slightly hesitant at first, but hey, at least there was no stubble.

Aravis was grateful for that, too. Though it was still odd kissing someone who was all...soft, like her.

Somehow managing not to flail, Jo reached up to cup Aravis's face, deepening the kiss ever so slightly.

Aravis was totally drunk enough not to flail. She idly toyed with a lock of Jo's hair, because that was new and different and kind of like hers but different. And not just because it was much lighter than hers, because that thought had totally occurred in her very blurry mind.

Jo's fingers tangled in Aravis's hair. If she hadn't been using her mouth, she might have pointed out it was curlier than hers too.

Aravis had also thought of that, but it was just part of the pile of things that were different. For some reason this was terribly important for her to focus on, though not so much that she couldn't experimentally nip at Jo's lower lip.

Jo made a soft, surprised sound, then nipped back, because that was interesting, yes.

Aravis made an equally soft, pleased noise, and wondered if maybe that was enough kissing, if only because that was a bit fun and the point here was to..make a point, after all. She untangled her hand from Jo's hair and tentatively leaned back.

Jo blinked, looking slightly bemused. "That was fun."

Aravis nodded. "It was," she agreed almost regretfully. "...I'll see you in class?"

Aravis failed at post-kissing chatting. To be fair, it's not like she was a pro.

Jo nodded. "Yeah, class."
