Still in the wolf form that Umbridge had turned him into, Dean was stretched out on the couch, chin resting on the armrest, tv remote in his mouth. With careful experimenting, he'd figured out how to turn on the tv and change the channel by biting down gently on the buttons.

He was currently watching an old werewolf movie; it had seemed appropriate given the circumstances.

The giggles tapered off, and now she was just smirking at him knowingly.

"What's that look for?" Sam asked.

It was very third grade but... "I know something you don't know," she sing-songed.

Sam gave Dawn a strange look. "Does this involve your underwear? Because if it does, I'd really like to know."

"I think you'll have to wait," she decided, nodding once. "Yep. I definitely think patience would be good for you."

"What if I don't want to be patient?" Sam asked, throwing in some puppy eyes for good measure.

Darn it. "Then you miss out on a pretty decent surprise, if I say so myself, and I do."

"You're very mean," Sam said, but at least he dropped the puppy face.

"And you love me anyway, so what does that say about you?"

"That I'm crazy. Or that you're worth the abuse."

Dawn stuck her tongue out at him. "See if I show you anything now."

Sam flailed a little and tried to look repentant. "I meant that it means you're a wonderful person who isn't nearly as cruel as I think, because that would mean not showing me anything."

"Now you're just kissing my butt," she grinned. "Which will be very attractively attired. Rikku gave her approval and everything."

"Rikku already saw this?" Sam asked. "That's both unfair, and kind of dirty."

"Oh, yeah, she saw all of it. I saw all of hers, too."

And there was the glossy-eyed look again.

Dawn could fix that. "We bought Luke pajamas, too."

"Luke went with you?!" Sam asked, feeling very slightly threatened by Luke for what was probably the first time ever.

"Huh?" It took Dawn a second, just because the idea of Luke and her underwear seemed like such foreign concepts to be in the same thought. "Oh! No, just me and Rikku, but he's going to need jammies if we're having a club meeting-slash-ice cream gorging and movie night."

Hearing Dawn talk about Luke like he was one of the girls did a lot to put his mind at rest. "Ah, so this wasn't just a 'let's buy underwear to break our boyfriends' brains' outing then?"
