Fourth floor common room, Monday evening

Still in the wolf form that Umbridge had turned him into, Dean was stretched out on the couch, chin resting on the armrest, tv remote in his mouth. With careful experimenting, he'd figured out how to turn on the tv and change the channel by biting down gently on the buttons.

He was currently watching an old werewolf movie; it had seemed appropriate given the circumstances.

Willow happened by the common room. She gasped in shock when she saw a wolf there.

Dean looked towards the door when he heard the gasp and nodded his head in greeting at Willow. The remote still firmly held in his jaws.

Willow thought quickly. "Okay, you have to be a real wolf because it's totally the wrong phase of the moon for werewolves."

Hey, you dated one and you remembered these things.

Dean shook his head. Nope he wasn't a werewolf. Least he didn't think he was, but he made a mental note to stay away from silver just in case.

"Are you someone's pet?" Willow asked. "One ruff for yes, two for no."

Dawn wandered into what was completely the wrong common room in search of doughnuts. And maybe some tobasco sauce.

She had yet to notice the wolf and werewolf movie.

Dean barked a greeting to Dawn, dropping the remote onto the couch as he did so.

"Oh, hey," Dawn crouched down, offering her hand to be sniffed, "Are you a new student, an old student, or just really really lost?"

Dean grinned and licked Dawn's face.

"Hey there, pretty lady," Sam said to Dawn, smiling.

"Hey, you," Dawn grinned back, then pointed, "Did you see? We have a kinda tame wolf now."

"That's not just any wolf," Sam replied. "It's Dean."

Sam went to Dean's room first to look for him, and then backtracked to the common room when he didn't find him there. When he saw Dean with the remote, he just watched him for a few moments, trying to decide if it would be worth it to try to take the thing away from him. "Having fun?" he finally asked.

Dean gave his brother a muffled woof without letting go of the remote.

Sam sat down besides Dean and reached for the remote. "Why don't you let me take that before you break it, or electrocute yourself?"

Dean growled a low warning.

Alec was on his way to see Dean, which necessitated a trip through the common room. Seeing the wolf, he decided to skirt around the couch - some dogs liked him and some really didn't, probably because of his feline genes, but he wasn't really big on testing the theory with one that big.

When Dean caught sight of Alec, he barked and ran over, tail wagging.

"Whoa!" Alec froze and raised his hands, looking at the wolf warily. "Down, doggie!"

Dean ignored the order and stood up on his hind legs, leaning his front paws on Alec's chest to balance enough to lick his face.

From across the room, Dawn waved at Alec.

"Hey!" Alec waved back as he dealt a bit bemusedly with the enthusiastic wolf. "Been a while! You doing okay?"

"The hose beast that is our sucky temporary principal made Sam move out," Dawn scowled, "and turned Dean into, well," she gestured towards the wolf, "but my arm's better and Mel's talking to me again, so I'm at least as good as I was before a couple of weeks ago." Mostly. "How're you?"

Sam watched Alec deal with Dean in amusement, and snickered at him.
