The Roof, Thursday Night

The roof wasn't somewhere Stark went often. It seemed like a good place to emo think tonight though. He was tired of his room for the time being, and this was less likely to be crowded than a common room. And it was nice, sometimes, to be able to look up at the stars, even when they were partially hidden behind clouds.

So he was sitting quietly near the edge, knees pulled up to his chest, trying not to think too hard about anything.

Billy liked the roof. It was a nice view, it was often quiet, and there also, were often cool people.

"Evenin' folks."

"Hello, Billy," Stark said.

"How're you doing Man? What've you been up to?"

[stykera]

"Not a lot." Stark shook his head. "Working on the school. And hiding in my room. You?"

"Not, really doing either of those. Might have been a good idea, the hiding I mean. Two questions, one, you think the school's gonna be ready for the fall, and two, why do you think people are still going to the Principal's office when she calls them in? I think maybe hiding in our rooms, or, somewhere, would be a good idea actually."

"It should be done," Stark said softly. "In time for classes. Maybe before I go. And I have no idea why people are seeing that woman if they can avoid it."

"I'm not even sure why I went. But that's depressing. What are you gonna do when you head out?"

[stykera]

"I...don't know." Stark looked down, then shrugged. "Back to where I was. If I can find where I was again."

"Where was that?"

[stykera]

"On a ship," Stark said, pointing up. "In the Uncharted Territories."

"Ah. You have a way of contacting them?"

[stykera]

"No," Stark said. "At least, not that I know of. But there's someone here now, from there. He might know. I should ask. Except he's from after I left, not the same time, so it might not work."

That confused Billy a bit. "So, you'd need someone from before you left?"

"Might be a different ship of mine than the ship of mine that I left from. So I might not be able to find the ship I was on that was actually the ship I was on."

"Ah. Got it. I get the feeling though that someone who hasn't lived in Fandom for about a year wouldn't have understood that."

"It does help, having lived here," Stark agreed. "Things that shouldn't make sense do."

"Like, you notice I didn't bat an eye when you talked about space ships and stuff?"

[stykera]

"Ships make sense," Stark said. "Even when you're not here. Ships made sense before I was here. More than one of the same person doesn't really. Except here."

"It almost does for me. Back home they've already started on the human cloning stuff."

"I know someone who was twinned once. Not the same as cloning, but sort of close. So maybe that does make sense. It's still strange though."

"It really is. "How were they 'twinned'? Did they have a long lost identical sibling they didn't know about?"

[stykera]

Stark shook his head. "No. There was one of him and he got split in two and there were two of him. They were both him. Both the original. It was confusing."

"Oh, yeah that sounds like it. How'd that get resolved? Are there still two of him running around?"

[stykera]

"No. Only one now," Stark said softly. "The other died."

Billy winced. "That's, gotta be really surreal for the other one."
