Cheer camp! SHOW, gym, 14:00, Sunday

The gym was set up with left over cookies, drinks and much space for the audience to watch the cheerleaders perform. Buffy would probably go out and bodily drag audience in if necessary, but she hoped the combination of cookies and short skirts would do her job for her.

ooc: wait for ocd. OCD is up! GO GREMLINS!

"They are very good," he agreed, smiling. "And I don't know, Evie, you look pretty cute sitting there cheering them on with your little flag."

"Oh, that's sweet of you to say! But I nearly gave myself a concussion when I auditioned. Better all around if I stick to Flag Football. At least it's *expected*, to some extent." She waved her flag again, beaming. "And did I hear you have a girlfriend now?"

He chuckled and really didn't mean to. A concussion was not good and with only auditioning? Yeah, sticking to flag football was great for her. "Flag football is a lot of fun. And yes," he grinned a bit, ducking his head. "Savannah and I are now officially dating."

"Congratulations! That's splendid!" Evie patted his arm, looking pleased. "I've only seen her in classes, but she seems quite nice. And very pretty," she added, nodding to Savannah doing warm-ups. "And now that that Horrible Woman is gone, no one will be penalized for simply holding hands or anything else with their boyfriend or girlfriend."

"Thanks, Evie," he said, taking it all in stride. Johnny thought he was doing well getting over the newness of it, handling it well. "She is pretty and I'm going to enjoy holding hand with her though I've got to admit, Evie, I never much went by what that horrible woman said."

"Well, neither did I. I broke most of her rules," Evie said, sounding a little proud of herself. "And I would have broken more, but I was frankly too intimidated to go to her office and be disrespectful in person. Just as well she's gone." She waved her little flag a little more forcefully, accidentally whapping herself in the face. "Ah! Anyway. Yes. A new school year, with new classes and teachers and books!"

Johnny smiled at her. "You're a sweet girl, Evie. Being disrepectful would have proved nothing anyway since she was oblivious to what anyone said or did." Oh, he raised his hand at that whap she gave herself, but not sure what he was going to do since the damage was done, he lowered it back to his lap. "And are you excited for new classes?"

"Extremely!" Evie rubbed the bridge of her nose where she'd gotten herself, looking slightly rueful. "I do so hope I get the ones I signed up for, Professor Deadpool's class and Government. And that I can continue my independent studies. I adore school work." She cocked her head. "I'm visiting home tomorrow first, though."

Johnny could appreciate those who enjoyed school work. He might not get it, but he could appreciate it. And Evie's enthusiasm was catching. He grinned wide at her. "Are you staying gone for all of next week?"

Re: Audience

[identity profile] bookyeve.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes. I really do miss my family, and my parents are preparing for their next term teaching at Oxford, but that doesn't start for several weeks, so... It's really the perfect time. I just wish Jonathan were going to be home too." She frowned, then sighed. "But I'll take what's offered in the way of time with my family. Are you going home at all soon?"

"Johathan?" Johnny asked her as he did a quick glance back at Savannah. "And no, I don't plan on going home at all really unless I'm called to come home for a specific reason."

"My older brother. He's four years older than I." Evie was quiet a moment, then said, her voice becoming more precise and British, "He's in Jerusalem, with the British Army. In the War, So I worry about him, sometimes."

Johnny was not expecting to hear that and in a slight effort to comfort her, he reached over to lightly squeeze her hand. "I'm sure he's okay, Evie," he said softly, and he's been here long enough now to understand the time dimensions.

"I hear from him often. He seems fine. All things considered," Evie said, keeping her voice chipper with an effort. She squeezed Johnny's hand, though. "But I am quite looking forward to Christmas. Most of the fighting should be done by then, and I'll know for certain." She cleared her throat. "So, where is home for you?"

"Hearing from him is important, Evie, it's when you don't that could start to worry," he pointed out, probably already saying what she already knows. "New York City," he replied with a wry grin. "Home Sweet Home."

"Yes. And he appreciates the pastries I send him from J,GOB. So..." Evie looked mournful, then brightened. "Ohh! Oh, I would adore to visit there. I've heard so much about it. I missed the last school trip that went there, which was a shame."

"It's busy and hectic but they have the best pizza ever," he grinned, glad that her mood brightened. "The bagels are great, and the hot dogs from a corner vendor can't be beat." Yeah, Johnny might be hungry.

Re: Audience

[identity profile] bookyeve.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Mmmmm. Oh, that sounds lovely." Evie was a big believer in food too. "And the Empire State Building, and the New York Museum of History with the mummies, and Central Park, and oh, how could you bear to leave?"

Re: Audience

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
"To be honest I didn't want to leave," he admitted. "I sort of got pushed into coming here by my older sister, Sue. Something or other about growing up, maturing, blah blah," Johnny smirked. "But since coming here, I like it, and probably wouldn't mind spending my last two years of high school here."

Re: Audience

[identity profile] bookyeve.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Ahh. Well, I'm certain your sister had your best interests at heart. Sisters most often do." And with Jonathan, that was always an undertaking. "And I'm so glad you like it here now. I'm very fond of this place, although I don't think I'm in any danger of turning into an American."

Re: Audience

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Johnny tilted his head back and laughed. "No, Evie, I don't think you're in danger of that." She was too perfectly British.

Evie waved her little flag again. "And yet. Go Gremlins!"

Re: Audience

Johnny raised both fists, getting into the spirit of it. "Go Gremlins!"
