In front of the dorms, Sunday afternoon

Mellow completely restored after his very successful trip to Toronto, Jude had spent most of Friday and Saturday, to no great surprise, sleeping.

Now, he was engaged in his other favourite pasttime. Or he would, if he could figure out what had happened to his axel after that fountain dive from the second floor of the mall over the dude in the panda suit.

He sat on the steps with his board across his lap, deep in concentration.

"Whoa," Rikku giggled. "Man, you win curbjam and you get all kind of groupies, huh? I hope you said no."

She bounced a little. "You'll never guess who's here. Never. You totally won't."

Jude considered. "Is this, like, an actual 'guess who' or am I supposed to say, like, Wyatt?"

"This is a real one. Not like Jen stopping by a second ago." She wrapped her arms around him and snuggled in. "Someone's here. For good. I saw her yesterday at the picnic. See, she's a she, that's a clue. C'mon."

Someone that would make Rikku bounce even more . . . Jude carefully replaced Sally with Rikku, his arms looping around her waist and thought.

"Yuna?" he ventured.

Rikku leaned in to brush her lips against his. "Nope. Yuna's back in Spira with Tidus. But you're warm." She wriggled a little on his lap. "You're really warm. I like that."

Jude got a little distracted by the wriggling. Oh, and the lips. Hmm, he would just have to think.

And by 'think' he meant 'kiss Rikku'.

They were talking about something, right? Right. They'd get back to that in a minute.

Toronto was great, but not being able to sit and smooch in front of Jude's parents ... not so much.

Jude was in total agreement about the parents thing. Then again, there was that thing in Ron's office . . .

No Jumbotrons. Another plus to Fandom smoochies.

Air was good. Air was one of those things she kept forgetting. Air. Right.

Rikku grinned. "Not Yuna. But you were close. Someone else. Before the kissing. Remember?"

... Probably not if she was going to nuzzle in like that, no.

"Nope," he said honestly, bumping his nose against hers.

Rikku laughed. "Someone's here. You're supposed to guess who."

She considered. "I'll give you a hint! Deadpool said 'oh, she seems very boobs.' Just like you did."

"Boobs? I mean, Lulu!" Jude gulped.

They floated in front of his vision for a moment, as if threatening bludgeoning.

Rikku laughed. "Yup! She's here! She's gonna be teaching here now, and it's even my Lulu, like, the one I know from home, not a different timeline dimensional whatever. Whoa, are you okay?"

He blinked, banishing the mental image of Boobs Gone Psycho. "Uh, yeah. I'm good."

"You're not upset, are you?" Rikku said, failing to mess the inherent fear of the Sentient Rack of Doom. "That she's here. I didn't know she was coming but she likes you, honest, and she's great and I'm going over for tea tonight. She's the one who taught me magic."

"Oh! Nah, bra, totally not upset." He smiled for her. "It's awesome that you got a friend around now."

He wasn't so sure how he felt about a friend around who potentially knew the degree to which their relationship had progressed . . .

"It really is," she said with a shiver. "I'm gonna be her TA, too. Oh. Uh. Does it ... bother you, about ... the letters? Uh." She scratched her head uncertainly. "I just ... never, uh, had anyone else ... to tell me things. That's all."

"Well . . . it's kinda weird, knowing that someone else knows about our . . . stuff," Jude said slowly. "And I just got Jonesy, and he's like no help, so . . . no, it doesn't bother me."

"Oh." Rikku bit her lip. "S-sorry? I just ... I mean, you had ... class or something, right? I never ..."

She laughed, a little awkwardly. "When I was eight, Pops pulled me aside and said 'Boys wanna touch things. Don't let 'em.'" Her impression of her dad's voice was actually pretty good. "I had no idea what he was talking about. I guarded the engine room for a few months. That's all I ever got. I was kind of ... really ... lost, you know?"

"Class covered, like, the basics. Tab A, slot B, don't do it 'til you get married or God kills a kitten," he said with a slightly lifted shoulder. "That sort of stuff." He cupped her cheek. "But I kinda like figuring it out with you."

Rikku blushed. "Kills a kitten?" she giggled. "We, uh, we Al Bhed were already heathens, so I guess we never heard that kinda stuff. The Yevonites might've. They cared a lot about ... you know. Being married, and they, uh, didn't like ... you know. Couples that were both boys or both girls."

She leaned in just a little. "I ... I like that a lot, too," she said softly. "It's ... you know, reading about stuff it sounds all weird and impersonal. I ... I like just ... h-having time and sitting with you and ... being together. Yeah?"

"Yeah," he agreed with a smile. "Yeah, I like that too." He nudged her nose with his. "I like doin' anything with you. Even just, I dunno, napping is better if it's with you."

"I've missed that," she smiled, nudging back before snuggling in. "It seemed so unfair that you were downstairs on the couch and I had to be asleep up in your room and we couldn't cuddle. I mean, I totally get why, it just ... sucked, yeah?"

She grinned. "You're a champion snuggler. If they had competitions, you'd totally win."

"Thanks, bra," he said brightly. "You're not so bad yourself."

Rikku giggled. "I'm in training. I have an expert coach. But I'm kinda low on practice lately. Isn't that awful?"
