Second Floor Common Room - Tuesday Morning

Meg didn't have class until Wednesday but she didn't want to get in the habit of sleeping in all day so when she woke up she got dressed and decided to check out the common room. It wasn't long before she was digging around in the kitchen and soon after she had eggs, bacon and pancakes cooking on the stove.

She had heard about the food sharing thing and was doing her best to make enough for anyone who stopped in.

[Open! There's food!]

A lack of classes on Tuesday meant that Adah would be able to stay on her floor, not have to move around too much, which was good, as she might have overdone it a bit yesterday. She had been curled up in her bed, ready to read some more, when the scent of cooking caught her attention, pulled her brain in the direction of the common room almost violently. Meat, of sorts, the unmistakable aroma of flesh, burning, simmering in faint juices of its own fat, and it almost left her stomach turning. Bacon, she realized a moment longer. How long had it been since she'd had bacon? The combination of brain and stomach rebelling against words out of curiosity had Adah limping toward the common room. She limped over, leaned on the door frame to peer in. A small rumble from her stomach preceded her thought of trying to remember when the last time she even ate was.

Adam didn't have class until later, but he was still an early riser. He ventured down two floors and had been lured to the common room by the smell of food.

Walking in, Adam smiled. "Good morning."

It was warm out on the roof last night, a bit uncomfortably warm, really. Still, Cassandra had managed to get nearly five hours of sleep, which was more than she usually got, so when she finally makes her way down to the second floor she's smiling sleepily.

Then she smelled the food and moved instinctually toward it. She poked her head around a corner curiously, covering a yawn with her hand, "Hello?"

Think she did? One glance over what the other girl was making and it seemed enough to feed the whole village of Kilanga. It was guaranteed to taste better than fufu, too, but that could be problematic, as her pallet had gotten far too used to fufu, its bland taste, its rib-sticking consistency, the vain attempts of her mother to add this or that to give it some sort, any sort of flavor. There were eggs, though. Adah knew she could eat eggs, and this girl wasn't even burning them like Rachel did. After a moment of hesitation, Adah limped further into the room at the invitation, giving a nod of appreciation to the other girl as her stomach did flip-flop, indecisive, unsure as to whether it was eager or overwhelmed.

"Oh, sure, thank you," Adam smiled warmly. "I've found it's safer to make too much than too little, especially with all of the people around here," he chuckled.

"Are you sure?" Cassandra sounded a bit doubtful. She wasn't precisely used to being offered free food. But then her stomach rumbled loudly, since the only thing she'd had to eat yesterday was a muffin, and she shrugged and walked over with a grin.

"Anything I can do to help?"

"I'm Adam Park, no longer a new kid," he smirked. "How are you finding Fandom, so far?"

Words like that still made Adah's head boggle. Of course there was no problem with making more; in America, you just had to waltz down to the local store, and there was more food there than you, your family, your town could consume in a month, while half the world away, a swarm of fire ants ate your chickens before you had a chance to and it was just fufu, fufu, fufu for weeks. It wasn't balanced; it knocked Adah off kilter. If it weren't for the plate that she'd picked up and started gripping onto for the sake of anticipation, she would have been unable to keep on her feet.

"An egg?" she requested, quietly, frowning, wincing still at the sound of her voice. "Two pieces of bacon?" Anything more than that ,and she was certain to get sick.

Adam chuckled and nodded. "Yeah, as time goes on I think you'll find that might be normal compared to some of the things that happen around here, as crazy as it may sound."

Cassandra nodded and walked over to the fridge to open it. There were a lot of things in there, and she couldn't read the labels. "Um... do you have a preference?" she asked, not even sure that there was more than one kind of juice in there.

Adah's head dipped, bobbing slightly, in a nod of thanks, but she started to feel a bit worried that she'd said something. But she hadn't brought her notebook with her and it would have been too difficult to communicate all that through gestures while holding a plate and trying even just to stand. If Adah said more, then more questions would come, more answers would be expected, more talking, talking, talking, so she pressed her lips together a moment, and left it at that, the nod, nothing more. At the sake of being considered rude, perhaps, but it wasn't like that was ever something Adah ever concerned herself with. She looked around for a place to sit.

With pursed lips Cassandra looked over the options again, then she decided that there was a pretty good chance that orange juice was probably the one in the orange container, so she grabbed that. As she walked back toward Meg, she offered a slight smile, "I'm Cassandra."

"Oh yeah," Adam smiled reassuringly. "No, you shouldn't have to worry about that," he admitted. "If there's something bad going on, the radio will report it most of the time."

The smell of bacon had Johnny walking down the hall towards the common room. What? Free food that he didn't have to cook? Hell yeah.

"Hey new girl I've yet to meet," he said by way of greeting Meg.
