River looked up at the sky. Once it got dark enough the stars would be visible. She smiled. That would be decoration enough. The music was already playing and she tooka a few dance steps, then spun around, closing her eyes.

Still, to be a proper party there was a few other things needed, and River had made sure they were there. Buffy had let her borrow the CD-player they used for the cheerleader practice, and Isabel had brought a large collection of CDs. River herself had provided snacks, mainly the kind bought from a shop, and had mixed a non-alcoholic punch.

From somewhere a few bags of glitter had appeared, available for anyone who needed it. River frowned, then shrugged. She placed the chair she had promised Adah next to the stairs, hoping that she would brave the long climb up to the roof, and put a blanket on top of it.

"Yes. Um. Neville Longbottom." He deliberated for a moment, and then held out his hand. "Hi. Have you been here long?"

"Lee Adama," he said and shook the offered hand. "No, I'm new too. Came in last Saturday, spent the day at that picnic."

"Oh, me too! I don't know if I saw you," Neville admitted. "There were so many people!"

"We probably missed each other," Lee told him. "You look like you made it through okay, though. That didn't scare you off."

"I'm a Gryffindor," Neville said, straightening and attempting to look fierce. "We don't scare easily." He paused. "Um. My room mate is perhaps a little scary though."

"My roommate's...not," Lee said, refraining from actually calling Harry a name. "He's got a stick though."

"A stick?" Neville repeated. "What?"

"A stick," Lee said and waved his hand around. "He's a mystic or something."

Neville looked confused, and then the light dawned. "Oh you mean he's a wizard! I'm a wizard too!"

"Wizard, yeah," Lee said, nodding his confirmation. "Frak, that's a lot of wizards. So you can drop boots on people too?"

"I've never tried doing it on purpose," Neville said after a moment. "Why?"

"Because Harry did," Lee groused. "For no reason at all." Which was a lie.

"Harry?" Neville blinked in surprise. "...Did you say anything about his parents? Or Sirius Black? Or his height? Or his scar? Or his owl?" Harry could be a bit touchy, after all.

"No," Lee said, shaking his head. "I can't even remember why he did it. I think he was just being a twit."

"He's usually nice," Neville said. He hesitated. "Only sometimes he's a bit..." He wasn't quite sure how to put it. "Um. Self-absorbed? But in a good way! Er. Not in a mean way."

"He's self absorbed," Lee agreed with a nod. Lee refrained from telling Neville about calling Harry 'kid.' He didn't need to know that. "You've known Harry long?"

"We're in the same class in Hogwarts, but here he's a year ahead of me." Neville shrugged helplessly. "Para-something Hermione said."

"Anyway I can block his stick from doing more of that magic stuff?"

Neville shook his head. "No, it doesn't work like that. The magic is in Harry, not his stick - er, wand."

"Wand, right." He was never going to call it that. Not to Harry, at least. "It can't be blocked at all?"

"Not as far as I know. You could ask Hermione?" If anybody knew, it was her.
