River looked up at the sky. Once it got dark enough the stars would be visible. She smiled. That would be decoration enough. The music was already playing and she tooka a few dance steps, then spun around, closing her eyes.

Still, to be a proper party there was a few other things needed, and River had made sure they were there. Buffy had let her borrow the CD-player they used for the cheerleader practice, and Isabel had brought a large collection of CDs. River herself had provided snacks, mainly the kind bought from a shop, and had mixed a non-alcoholic punch.

From somewhere a few bags of glitter had appeared, available for anyone who needed it. River frowned, then shrugged. She placed the chair she had promised Adah next to the stairs, hoping that she would brave the long climb up to the roof, and put a blanket on top of it.

River waved to Isabel, clearly pleased with the result of their efforts. "Not cold?" she called out, grinning.

"Just a little," Isabel admitted. "I have a shirt if I really need it." Although she was going to hold off on using it for as long as possible.

"You will have to try the glitter too," River replied with a giggle.

"Draw attention to my assets?" she chuckled. "Maybe. We'll see if the right people turn up to appreciate them."

"You have particular people in mind, I assume," River teased her and dug a handful of glitter from her pocket, trying to sprinkle it over Isabel.

Isabel let herself be sprinkled, even though she was pretty sure she'd still be washing glitter out of her on Monday. "Possibly. But even if he doesn't come by, there's alternatives. At least for fun and flirting."

"Certainly," River said. "And dancing."

"And dancing," she agreed. "Can't forget the dancing."

"Oh, I talked to Parker the other night. Zero took her out to a festival in the desert for a few days. She survived."

The image of Parker at a festival in the desert was too funny not to have her burst out giggling. "She didn't shoot anyone?"

Isabel laughed as well, because she'd had pretty much the same thoughts. "No. And she even agreed to go back next year, go figure."

"Oh, she also said to tell you that she talked to Bridge."

River turned suddenly serious and gave a nod in reply. Then equally suddenly she smiled again. "Parker is exploring the world."

"She is. And she's having fun. I just miss her," Isabel admitted. "Phone calls aren't the same."

"They're not," River said. "But she's there, she's herself and we'll see he again." She smiled and sprinkled some more glitter over Isabel.

"True enough."

Isabel spun under the glitter. "Now let's go enjoy the party."
