Party on the roof, Dorm roof, Friday night

River looked up at the sky. Once it got dark enough the stars would be visible. She smiled. That would be decoration enough. The music was already playing and she tooka a few dance steps, then spun around, closing her eyes.

Still, to be a proper party there was a few other things needed, and River had made sure they were there. Buffy had let her borrow the CD-player they used for the cheerleader practice, and Isabel had brought a large collection of CDs. River herself had provided snacks, mainly the kind bought from a shop, and had mixed a non-alcoholic punch.

From somewhere a few bags of glitter had appeared, available for anyone who needed it. River frowned, then shrugged. She placed the chair she had promised Adah next to the stairs, hoping that she would brave the long climb up to the roof, and put a blanket on top of it.

[Up early because I'm in a timezone that makes me want to go to bed before everyone else. Everyone's invited to party and dance. Wait for OCDs! OCDs are up!]

"Uh..." Andrew was suddenly very self conscious.

"Uh..." Ronan was pretty.

"Uh..." He was covered in a double dose of glitter.

"Okay?" He allowed his hand to fall into Ronan's.

Ronan laughed, and pulled Andrew towards him, letting one hand slide to Andrew's back as the other moved to pull Andrew's hand into 'dance position'.

Andrew had no clue what he was supposed to do, so he totally just followed Ronan's lead. He was really wishing he and Neil had found more time to practice dancing.

The hand on the back was... nice.

Ronan pulled Andrew into a turn, trying to lead him in something that was a bit of a cross between a foxtrot and a waltz, mostly just spinning around in time to the music.

Andrew did his best to follow Ronan through the motions. He was a bit too tense to be very successful, though. Every time he would step on Ronan's feet or miss a step he would hastily mumble a little apology.

"Sorry... Oh, sorry... Sorry... My bad... Sorry..."

Ronan laughed and shook his head. "No, it's all right," he said, and he stepped back a bit. It wasn't enough to be rejecting, just appraising, and after a moment, Ronan added, "Try following this?" He did a step-two-three, hands clasped behind his back, and then stopped, waiting for Andrew to repeat it.

Andrew relaxed a bit and watched Ronan's movements. He copied them fairly exactly and beamed at Ronan when done.

Ronan nodded. "Good, good. See? You can do it." He repeated the step, this time reversed -- left-right-left.

Andrew wasn't half bad at the whole dancing thing when he wasn't all tensed up by... proximity. "You're pretty good at this," he commented.

"Thanks," Ronan said, shrugging a bit. "It's not that hard for me. Comes easily, I guess." He led Andrew this time through a different series of steps -- step-two-three, two-two-three, turn-two-three, back-two-three.

Andrew followed them easily. "I'm totally getting the hang of this. Neil was showing something very similar a few weeks ago." He blushed a little at the memory.

"Neil?" Ronan asked. And then he realised he didn't even know the name of the boy he was dancing with. "Oh, I'm Ronan, by the way. Sorry, I should have introduced myself before."

"That's a nice name. And the accent, it's all Tom Cruise in Distant and Gone -- except like real." Andrew sighed, "I could listen to that all day."

Ronan laughed. "Thank you," he said. "I'm rather fond of my accent myself. Although I resent the comparison to Tom Cruise."

"I thought Tom Cruise was a little more accurate than say Chris O'Donnell in Ring of Acquaintances," Andrew replied.

"Yeah, but... Tom Cruise. Surely you've seen Cillian Murphy or Jonathan Rhys-Meyers in something."

"Are they your fellow countrymen?" Andrew inquired. "It's so hard to tell who is from where these days with all the actors trying to break the mold and play foreign or ugly. Where are you from, anyway? Ireland?"

Ronan raised his eyebrow. "The accent didn't give it away?" he asked. "Yeah, I'm from Ireland. County Cork."

Of course the accent gave it away. Andrew was just a nervous conversationalist. "Oh, Cork. Like the board your pin stuff to. Cool."
