River looked up at the sky. Once it got dark enough the stars would be visible. She smiled. That would be decoration enough. The music was already playing and she tooka a few dance steps, then spun around, closing her eyes.

Still, to be a proper party there was a few other things needed, and River had made sure they were there. Buffy had let her borrow the CD-player they used for the cheerleader practice, and Isabel had brought a large collection of CDs. River herself had provided snacks, mainly the kind bought from a shop, and had mixed a non-alcoholic punch.

From somewhere a few bags of glitter had appeared, available for anyone who needed it. River frowned, then shrugged. She placed the chair she had promised Adah next to the stairs, hoping that she would brave the long climb up to the roof, and put a blanket on top of it.

[Up early because I'm in a timezone that makes me want to go to bed before everyone else. Everyone's invited to party and dance. ~~Wait for OCDs!~~ OCDs are up!]

"... Mehico?" Yes, that would be a blank look right there.

"South of the border! I, personally, am a huge fan of the bean burrito. And you?"

This was Andrew trying to make small talk.

"I... like guacamole," Mac said after a moment. "And quesidilla's."

"You a fan of Mexico or something?"

"Quesadilla's are excellent," Andrew agreed.

He thought over her question for a second and replied, "Not really. Though Spanish is the second language I ever learned. I spent a lot of time in front of the t.v. as a child and my brother thought it was funny to only let me watch the Spanish networks. I picked it up pretty quickly."

And he may have just given Mac an idea about how to help Ryan work on his Spanish... Had she still been at home, anyway.

"Growing up in SoCal, it's kind of a useful language to know," Mac said. "I learned a bit in my old school."

"Oh, California! I'm from Sunnydale!"

Mac gestured at herself, "Neptune, near San Diego."

"Awww, we're both so far away from home. We're like Jeff Bridge's character in Sunguy, except not quite that far away -- seeing as how he was from space and all."

Mac chuckled wryly. "Compared to most, I'd say we're doing pretty well, distance-wise."

"Not like we're not all connected anyway in some mystical spiritual way -- or through the internet. Do you have any online pen pals?"

Andrew was in rare form with the socializing tonight. He felt pretty good about it.

"I haven't called them pen pals since I was twelve," Mac said carefully. "But yes, I guess I do."

"That's cool. I've tried to write my friend Jonathan back home a few times, but I think his mom keeps intercepting my letters. And he's not allowed online after what happened when he got hold of his dad's credit card, so email is out." Andrew frowned.

Mac blinked. "You can't just call him?"

Andrew blinked back. "Well..."

He blinked some more. "Huh."

Mac assumed from his silence that he just hadn't tried that.

"Try that," she suggested.
