River looked up at the sky. Once it got dark enough the stars would be visible. She smiled. That would be decoration enough. The music was already playing and she tooka a few dance steps, then spun around, closing her eyes.

Still, to be a proper party there was a few other things needed, and River had made sure they were there. Buffy had let her borrow the CD-player they used for the cheerleader practice, and Isabel had brought a large collection of CDs. River herself had provided snacks, mainly the kind bought from a shop, and had mixed a non-alcoholic punch.

From somewhere a few bags of glitter had appeared, available for anyone who needed it. River frowned, then shrugged. She placed the chair she had promised Adah next to the stairs, hoping that she would brave the long climb up to the roof, and put a blanket on top of it.

[Up early because I'm in a timezone that makes me want to go to bed before everyone else. Everyone's invited to party and dance. ~~Wait for OCDs!~~ OCDs are up!]

Isabel's skin was glittering. What was a little more? She turned so that she'd have equal coverage.

"Happy now?"

Wyatt grinned. "Yes," he said. "Though if you were going with the shirtless theme more, that'd make me even happier."

"Ummm," she said, pretending to think about it.

"No. This is my limit for contributing to shirtlessness."

"That's a shame," Wyatt said. Shamelessly, of course.

Isabel shrugged and grinned. "Sorry but somethings have to be earned."

"And how would someone go about doing that?" Wyatt asked.

"Ummm..." Yes, that would be Isabel floundering, just a bit. "Someone might be already. Maybe."

"Girl like you, who wouldn't be?" Wyatt said.

Wyatt was very good for her ego.

"You'd be surprised. I went dateless to my first prom here because the guys were more interested in dating each other."

"You going dateless should be a crime," Wyatt said. "You're hot, you're smart, you're fun, what's not to like? If some guys would rather date each other, their loss."

Very, very good for her ego.

"Remind me to talk to you when I need a pick me up." Still, she probably should make things clear. "I did mean it though, there is someone I'm interested in. And I don't want to mess things up."

Wyatt sighed. "My loss, too, then."

"I'm sorry," Isabel said sincerely. "If things were different, I'd be really tempted."

Wyatt grinned. "Well, keep me in mind if you're ever in need of temptation," he said. "Still friends?"

"You're pretty hard to forget," she told him. "And absolutely still friends. I like hanging out with you."

"Great," Wyatt said. "Because I meant the stuff I said about you. There aren't a lot of girls like you back home. Most of them are more concerned with getting a tan or the newest designer handbag or something."

"That was me once upon a time. My priorities have shifted," she shrugged. "Between coming here, the things we found out about who we were. What happened when we went back...It helps put things in perspective."

Wyatt nodded. "Yeah, I suppose I didn't take life very seriously until I found out about my heritage and my powers," he said. "Funny how that changes things."

"Yeah, nothing like being told you have a destiny to really screw with your life plans," Isabel said dryly.

"But at least you get to meet interesting people and occasionally get your gender or age changed?" Wyatt said, trying to coax a smile from Isabel.

He succeeded. "I haven't done the gender swap. But I did spend a week as a dog. Trapped with the Jerries. It was hell. And being little? Well, I got to be a bridesmaid for several weddings.""

"Little, and apparently an alternate version of myself that was evil," Wyatt said, with just a little twitch at the second one. "Chris got to be a girl. I always wanted a little sister. . . ."

"Been there, done that, thank god the skanky clothes disappeared when the weekend was over," Isabel replied, understanding the twitch. "Not only was she evil? She was a ho. I think she hit on half the guys in the school."

"I think other-me was trying to rule the world," Wyatt said with a slight frown. "Real power hungry. Real me is much nicer. ~~And doesn't have unfortunate facial hair.~~"

"I'd have to agree," she smiled. ~~GAH!~~
