Luke was in the common room surrounded by the ingredients to make sand cookies--and his cakensmoosher in case things got out of hand--frantically searching for the piece of flimsiplast that had the recipe on it.

He and Jo had a date to make cookies.

And Luke couldn't cook.

This shouldn't be a disaster. Really.

Artoo was in the corner with his video running. Artoo was an evil, evil droid.

"Well, solar systems are balls," Jo pointed out. "Just a lot of little ones. So you're halfway there."

"It seems like it should be easier to lift little things, but when there's a lot of it--glitter, grains of sand, bits of sugar--it takes more concentration." Luke glanced at the recipe and began adding eggs. Without the shells.

Well...mostly.

"You know what they say," Jo said, making a note to be careful of eggshells. "Practice makes perfect."

Luke smiled ruefully at the bowl as moved out the pieces of eggshell. "Clearly I need more of it."

"Which you're getting."

"Show me how it's done?" Luke asked shyly. "I can read the recipe off."

"Sure," Jo said, smiling.

"It says we have to sift the flour," Luke told her.

"We need the sieve for that," Jo said, reaching for the flour and the sieve.

"Gavin totally would have thought that was a hat," Luke said.

Mostly because he had.

Jo grinned. "Most people grow out of that by the time they're five."

"Tatooine's on a slightly different learning curve," he said with a grin.

"I guessed."

Luke glanced over at her nervously. "I'm not slow or anything...we just didn't have a lot of options where I grew up."

"Luke, I'm from Nebraska," Jo said. "It's only slightly less in the middle of nowhere."

He looked incredibly relieved. "Oh! Good. There are a lot of Tatooine jokes floating around the galaxy. Almost as many as there are about Agamar."

"Agamar?"

"It's a planet that makes Tatooine look full of refined art critics," Luke said with a smile. "Another planet full of farmers, really. They have good hearts."

"Which makes up for the lack of refinement."

Luke glanced over at her, blushing. "I kinda hoped so."

Jo smiled and leant over to kiss his cheek. "Yeah, it does."

Luke blushed harder as he wrapped his arm around her waist.

Jo slid her hands up his arms to rest on his shoulders. "You're cute when you blush."

"You're cute all the time," he babbled.

It was Jo's turn to blush. "Thanks."
