Fourth floor common room, Friday evening
After being bit by gremlins and making an emergency stop at a janitor's closet that for some reason had matching costumes in their sizes, Jim, John, Gavin, and Karal made their way to the common room.
And then...
"Lollipop lollipop
Oh lolli lolli lolli
Lollipop *weird finger-to-cheek popping noise*"
[OOC: They think they're a barbershop quartet. Come and get a free concert!]

Performance
Re: Performance
"And a one, and a two, and a..."
And then there was singing. It wasn't very good singing. But, with the other three boys doing background vocals for the first verse, it was singing nonetheless. The voices were lilting, somewhat melodic and there was hat swinging, oh yes.
"I said a hip hop the hippie
The hippie to the hip hip a hop and ya don't stop
A rock on baby bubba to the boogety bang
Bang the boogie to the boogety beat
Now what'chu hear is not a test I'm a rappin to the beat
It's just me the groove and my squad we gonna try to move your feet
See I am the doctor spoc and I'd like to say hello
A to the black to the white the red and the brown
The purple and yellow
Well, first I gotta bang bang the boogie to the boogie
Say up jump the boogie to
Bang bang boogie let's rock you don't stop
Rock the rhythm that'll make your body rock
Now, so far you heard my voice a but I brought 2 friends along
And next on the mic is my man E come on E sing that song.
With a little nod of his head, Gavin stepped back into the line and did a little back and forth swaying with the rest of the quartet.

Jim, when not gremlin-bitten, played the guitar. Not really well, but decently. As a singer, he was a fantastic guitar player.
"Baby on board, how I've adored,
That sign on my car's windowpane
A bounce in my step; loaded with pep,
'Cause I'm driving in the carpool lane."

"It's astounding;
Time is fleeting;
Madness takes its toll.
But listen closely...

"If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be travelling on, now,
'Cause there's too many places I've got to see.
But, if I stayed here with you, girl, "
Jim stepped back into line, looking like he did, in fact, have too many places he had got to see.

He thumped the hat to his chest twice as one of the backups sang the bump bumps.
"Where it began, I can't begin to know when
But then I know it's growing strong,
Oh, wasn't the spring,
And spring became the summer,
Who'd have believed you'd come along?"

"Ohhhh, oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.
You always walked a step behind."
He placed his hat over his heart and bent down on one knee, looking up at Jim.
"So I was the one with all the glory,
while you were the one with all the strength.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain!"
He stood and sashayed gracelessly back into the line.

Gavin stepped forward and then started to sing with the other boys humming in tune as backup.
"We were drawn from the weeds
We were brave like soldiers
Falling down under the pale moonlight
You were holding me
Like someone broken
And I couldn't tell you, but I'm telling you now"
And then he stepped back into the swaying, humming line.

Re: Gawk
And stared.
"...oh my God. Oh, my God. Jim?"
She didn't wait for a response before taking a few pictures with her phone.
Re: Gawk
Re: Gawk
Also staring with raised eyebrows, trying to figure out if they were gremlin-bit or just doing it for the heck of it. I mean, Jim was there, so you never knew...
Re: Gawk
Then started laughing. Loudly.
Re: Gawk
And promptly lost all possible words, not that she could say any with her jaw dropped like that. John, Karal and Gavin. Some days she loved this town.
Re: Gawk
Re: Gawk
And stopped. And stared, before quietly watching in utter fascination, memorizing every detail for future tauntings.

He may have hummed along quietly to some of the songs.

Re: Gawk
When he saw that it was a barbershop quartet, he found himself a comfy spot leaning against one of the walls of the common room, and nodded his head in time to the music. He hadn't known that the school had a barbershop quartet, but they were really good at it.
