This Jeff was watching very bad old horror movies.

This was a Jeff with a purpose. A Jeff with a plan.

This was a Jeff who was going to win a Film Off, yes.

"Hey," Jim said. "Have we met?"

[intraspective]

"Huh?" Ino looked at him, then shook her head, "I don't think so?" She grinned at him, "I'm Yamanaka Ino, though."

"I didn't think so. I'm pretty good with faces," Jim said. "Jim Halpert. It's nice to meet you."

[intraspective]

"Likewise!" Ino said. "I can't believe how many people I haven't met yet - and I've been here since September."

"You know, I've been here since January and I'm still finding people I haven't met, too," Jim said. "But part of that is that we keep getting new people. And it always happens at the beginning of the semester. It's so weird."

[intraspective]

"Everything is weird around here." Ino laughed, "I've learned that really quick. But really? You mean every semester the number of people I don't know is just going to go up?" That was a big difference from home. "It's a lot different from home."

"Well, most of the people here are actually just robots," Jim said, joking but seeing if he could take terrible advantage of a newish person who could potentially be terribly gullible. "So every semester after they learn a certain amount, they get sent out to the people who ordered them and a new batch of robots replaces them. So, yeah, there's a constant turnover every few months."

Jim wasn't sure why he did this to people. Well, yes, he did. It was entertaining.

"... what's a robot?" Ino asked, frowning. Most of the people she'd met seemed pretty... people-like.

"It was a joke," Jim admitted. It was no fun if he had to explain it. "Robots are machines that walk around and do stuff. They're pretty awesome."

That was the problem with Fandom. Not everyone knew about robots.

From that description? Ino didn't really want to know about robots.

"People do stuff too," she said, "and here almost everybody is interesting."

"Oh yeah," Jim said. "Definitely. Whoever they have sending out brochures does a good job to get all these people coming here. I think the mail guy has to be psychic or something to manage that."

[intraspective]

Ino looked at him, not sure if he was joking or not, "My Dad sent me here, but I don't think we got any brochures."

"Really? It was a great pamphlet," Jim said. "You're missing out on color pictures, big, simple to read text, the whole shebang."

[intraspective]

"I think I'll manage without it." Ino said, now looking amused, "I doubt it explained Fandom fully anyway."

"No, but it did have very nice pictures of things you can see everyday," Jim said. "I mean you can live without it if you can call that living, but I dunno..."

Ino snickered. "I'll just try and manage with my half-life then. It's proved interesting enough so far."

"Well, that's good to hear," Jim said. "Is your dad going to be here this weekend? Because that'll make up for the lack of brochure for him, too."

[intraspective]

Ino stared at him like he was crazy. "I really hope he doesn't show."

"Then I'll bribe the mail guy to make sure he doesn't get a belated brochure, either," Jim said.

[intraspective]

"What? I don't care if Dad gets a brochure or not. I just don't want him here." Ino waved her hands expressively.

"There's not a mail guy anyway. I just made him up," Jim said.

Ino put her hands on her hips, "Are you always this irritating?"

"Sometimes I'm funnier so people appreciate it more," Jim admitted. "I'm having an off-night."

"Hmph." Ino rolled her eyes, "Why? Worried about parents coming in for the weekend?"

"No, I'm going to be happily parent-free," Jim said. "I think it's because my radio schedule got switched around. I'm used to trying to read squirrel writing at this time. I'm not joking there."
