Fourth floor common room: Tuesday afternoon

Karal was mostly over his cold, and completely sick of his room. He knew it was Christmas today, not that he really knew what that involved, but there was one Karsite tradition he was quite sure would fit.

Hot spiced cider.

There was a pot of it mulling on the stove, smelling of cinnamon and spices and all things yummy and if it was a teeny bit alcoholic, it was only enough to warm.

Karal was curled up on the couch with a mug of cider, reading, while Altra sprawled across the back of it. With the dorms as quiet as they were, he wasn't sure if there was anyone left, but he'd made enough cider for anyone who might wander by.

Inara wandered in, dressed in warm, soft clothing and a pair of slippers--extremely casual for her. She beamed when she saw Karal. "It's good to see you up and around. Are you feeling better?"

"Inara!" Karal beamed up at her and put his book down, while Altra purred a greeting. "I am, yes. I credit your tea and Andrew's chicken noodle soup for my quick recovery. Would you like some cider?"

"Chicken noodle soup?" She asked, then nodded, "Is that what I'm smelling? I would love some, thank you."

He hopped up to pour her some. "Chicken noodle soup. It's a traditional soup of this world, that people give others when they're sick," he explained. "It's very good. Soothing." He smiled as he offered her the mug. "I think we might be the only two people left on the island, it's so quiet."

"Thank you," she said, sniffing at the fragrant drink, then sipping cautiously. "What do you think we should do with our own personal island?"

Ino wandered down one floor, and poked her head in the common room, "Oh, hello," she said, "is there anything entertaining going on down here?"

"Hmmm, I'm not sure," he said thoughtfully, returning to sit on the couch and gesturing for her join him. "I think the first thing is to fence off the Preserve so Trenor can have it to run in. What would you do first?"

"There's cider. I'm not sure if it counts as entertaining," Karal replied with a smile. "But I'd be happy to pour you a mug so you could see for yourself."

"There's also converstation," she had to point out, "which is a nice surprise, since it's so quiet." Ino grinned, "Sure, I'd love try some."

"Declare you supreme overlord," she told him, only half-joking.

Jeff had escaped work with some level of efficiency.

Hence, he felt, he was allowed some relaxing time.

The fact that he'd reached entirely the wrong floor didn't seem to bother him in the least. He leapt onto the closest available comfortable surface. "My mother's not coming," he announced to the room.

"True," he laughed, and went to pour a mug, which he offered her. "I admit, I enjoy the quiet, but not quite this much of it!"

"Which I think calls for a celebration!" Karal knew enough about Jeff to know that no mother was a very good thing. "Would you like some cider?"

Karal stared then burst out laughing, almost spilling his cider.

Having just flopped quite thoroughly down on the couch, it took some effort for Jeff to sit up. "Alcoholic?"

"A little bit of it is good," Ino agreed, taking the mug and sniffing cautiously at the drink before sipping it, "but there's only so much I can take. I hope people get back soon. It's a bit boring, right now."

"That's good news," she laughed, twisting to grin at her brother, "you must be delighted."

"Slightly. The heating takes much of the strength out of it." He grinned. "It's very good, and you could have several mugs, if you wanted."

"What? I think you'd be a very benevolent dictator."

"Excellent!" Jeff grinned broadly. "Please."

"I didn't even have to set up a barricade," Jeff said, grinning at her. "...Except I did, 'cos you never know what's going to happen, you know. She may have attempted a leap."

Jaina wasn't keen on spending much time by herself this week, so she was very glad to see that there were people in the upstairs common room.

Also she'd forgone the everpresent cap due to randomly having hair again, though it had been pulled back into a short ponytail. Ah, Fandom.

"Hi," she greeted the room at large, plopping into a chair.

"Inara! That is hardly the point! Bright Flame, can you really see me as any sort of an overlord," Altra started to laugh and Karal rolled his eyes at the 'cat, "Supreme or otherwise?"

"You really set up a barricade to keep your mother away from Fandom?" Ino asked, giggling, "Jeff!"

"There's no such thing as overplanning," Jeff underscored quite seriously. And emphatically. And other such modifiers.
