Third Floor Common Room; Thursday, Noonish.
Chad was making soup for his lunch, and Prince Oscar Pedro was helping. Helping, apparently, meant curling up on the counter amongst all of the light scattering of tools and supplies and ingredients that Chad was using, chewing on a sprig of parsley with his naked rat tail flopping happily, barely avoiding knocking over a stirring spoon, purring up a storm, while Chad talked to him in Japanese, waxing on ideas for what to maybe do for Teddy for Valentine's Day. Chad wasn't exactly finding Prince Oscar Pedro helpful on the matter, as he wasn't doing anything more the sitting there, purring, chewing, unless Chad asked a question about the soup instead of about love, at which case the kitten would let out a meow for or against adding onions or more carrots.
[[ open as common rooms be; there will more than enough soup to share, and, hey, you don't even have to worry about any cat fur getting into it! ]]

"...You okay, Liir?"

Instead, he shook his head and attempted a smile. It wasn't much of an attempt.
"Just fine. Don't know what got into me."
Other than the mind numbing terror.

He turned his attention to his big pot of soup again, continuing to stir it slowly. "S'almost ready, if you want some in a bit. Lots more than me and Prince Oscar Pedro can eat."
no subject
"I didn't have any other lunch plans. And that smells very good."
Er.
"Er. If that's all right with you."
no subject
"Course it's all right," Chad nodded. "Wouldn't have offered if wasn't."

He looked at the kitten once he found him, figured he was quite happy as he was, and decided to leave him be. He would, however, be in for a world of scritchings and pettings if he decided to visit.
Liir had sort of been missing animal companionship of late.

Chad added a little bit of seasoning to the soup, hunching over it a little to give it a light sniff to see how it was coming along base on aroma. He stirred it again, quiet, and thought about continuing the one-sided conversation with his cat, but figured that would be kind of rude now that they were no long along. So, instead, he asked, "How've you been, Liir?"
no subject
"Mostly deliriously happy," he admitted after that, before realizing how insensitive it might sound, considering. "A little worried."
Then he paused.
"Alive."
It seemed appropriate.

"I should think you'd know."
After all, he was worried after Teddy. And Teddy and Chad were-- Chad should know.

It wasn't helping that his faulty memory had him scrambling to try to fill in the empty gaps where he might have done something to upset Liir, or anyone....
no subject
"No. Of course not. What could you have--"
Well, it looked as if outright honesty was called for. It wasn't his strong suit, of course, but he could do it if pressed. And he wouldn't want Chad thinking he'd done something.
"No. I'm worried after Teddy. He was rather upset with me the other day. I... I thought he might have mentioned it to you. That's all."
And remembering Chad's odd quirk with memory, he added a moment later
"If you'd rather I left, I can. Considering."

"Hey, Chad," he said, recognizing the one doing the cooking, and smiling at the unfamiliar kitten doing his purring and chewing on the counter.

He paused. "The Third. He's my cat."
Prince Oscar Pedro, meanwhile, was discovering a slight addiction to parsley sprigs, and, in the midst of chewing one, was actually rather oblivious to any hands that needed potential sniffing.
