The Roof, Thursday Morning

Ino was up on the roof bright and early and totally waiting for Liir to show up. Her pacing was looking a lot more like bouncing and every now and then she did a little spin simply for the sake of having fun.

This morning, this morning was going to be wonderful.

Flying!

[Ino's waiting for a certain boy and his broom, clearly. But it's open for all your other roof~y needs!]

"Physical wounds heal, generally," he said, not looking at anything in particular. Or anyone. The green eyes was curiously blank, like an empty bookshelf.

Something should have been there.

"The other kind... usually not. More likely to fester and rot."

He looked at her sideways and offered a small, playful smile. He was almost good enough for it to look natural.

"Sometimes."

He let her and leaned a little. Just a little.

He wished he could believe her.

The smile, however, was genuine as he soaked in her warmth, took the hug for what it was.

"We'll see."

He opened his mouth to say something when something flashed before his eyes.

A girl. A ribbon.

"I can believe that," he said. "Though..."

He turned to look at her, not quite so earnest, but very honest.

"There's something you should know."

"I remembered something," he said, trying to figure out a way to explain it. He'd come up with a few at this point and none of them seemed right yet. Or perhaps he wasn't matching them correctly to the person.

"I remembered a memory that wasn't mine. It was yours."

He looked away, but he didn't move otherwise. It felt good to have Ino's arms around him when he told her. As if he wasn't in trouble.

"I didn't mean to. That doesn't make it any less my fault, but I didn't mean to. It happened while I was asleep. But I thought you should know. I honestly almost forgot what with the flying and everything."

"There was a girl with pink hair. You gave her a ribbon and told her to show off her face because people said she had a big forehead."

Here the words weren't as important. The motions, the images. So he spoke of them.

"That's all, really."

He shook his head.

"I don't have the right. And on the nights when it happens, my dreams are... odd. Like fever dreams. Crazed, nonsensical visions."

He looked sideways.

"Did you think I thought you were?"

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
"I appreciate it."

He took another bite of his sandwich.

"And I'm glad."

"I don't know what it needs," he said. "Professor Ambrose said he'd ask someone who might have some familiarity with my special brand of... insanity."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't see how," he said. "I've always tried to be disciplined. Tried, as much as I could. It's never made much different."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"You looked the same," he said, like a splash of water.

"In the night vision. And the day that I drifted out of my body. You looked the same."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
He nodded.

"You had shorter hair. You were smaller. It seemed... natural."

That's why he didn't mention it.
