Cheerleading Tryouts! Saturday, The Gym

Savannah had gotten up and to the gym early in oder to make sure that everything looked perfect -- and was perfect -- for the tryouts.

There was a table set up with pens, pencils and clipboards for all of the current cheerleaders. This way they could write down names and what they thought of each person that was here to try to add to the squad.

She had pulled out most of the mats and set them up, and had the stereo playing bouncy, cheerful music. There was even a table set up with refreshments.

The Fandom High Gremlins are here and ready to see what talent the students had to offer the squad.

"You should come to the beach, too! I heard there's a whole class trip to Mexico!"

John made a face in Doom's direction. "Well, I'm not sure everybody's serious about making the team."

"He's all peppy now!" Rikku said, bouncing. "I guess he used to be a grumpy kinda guy? But he's all yay and high-fives and all that. Oooooh, is that where you're going, Mexico? I've never been there! Beaches are awesome. Almost like the desert, except you've got an ocean there!"

... Look, she was hyper, this was the closest he should expect to logic or sanity today.

"I worry about him all peppy. Like something really bad's about to happen." Cue more frowning.

"Well, that's where I'm going since I heard about the class trip," John agreed. "Romeo and I had been trying to get some people together for a trip to Florida, but there may not be need for that now."

"Oooooh, Florida's pretty neat," Rikku beamed. "Mel and I went there. Then we had to leave real fast so we didn't get arrested? But that was months ago, I'm sure it's all fine now."

She looked over at Doom. "I dunno, I think he's totally embraced his cheery side. Why would that be a bad thing?"

John shook his head, he wasn't getting into that here. "I just hope he means it." But John planned on watching him closely today just in case.

"Hold up, you were avoiding arrest in Florida? Now that sounds like a story!"

"There was ... lemme see. Defacement of federal property, arson, vandalism, theft, I forget the rest of it. And that was after we'd already broke out of jail once," Rikku grinned. "And we kinda totaled Deadpool's car? But we installed a chimichanga maker in the glove compartment and I think that should've made up for a lot. And we didn't mean to wreck it, it just ... sort of ... started ramming into things and setting them on fire. I screwed up the upgrades."

She beamed. "Mel and I know how to roadtrip."

"Now that sounds completely amazing," John was in awe. "And makes me think Fandom students on road trips are far cooler than regular kids on road trips. You do stuff like that often?"

"Not really," she laughed. "We, uh, we were both kinda ... fried out? Had a really bad week and decided to skip town and mess things up. Really the only time I've done that. Mel's awesome. We've kinda been meaning to go again, just haven't yet. And cars are awesome. Especially when you put Haste on 'em."

"See, I dig cars, but I never had the benefit of Haste," John said. "I imagine it's more like flying than driving."

"It was seriously fast," she grinned. "Evade and Counter was my big mistake. I thought it was just Evade? Like, you know, if something was gonna hit us, we'd dodge it? Instead we, uh. Dodged it, and then sped up and .... slammed into it? So ... maybe I should lay off upgrading cars."

John laughed, "Oh now that is good. I'd love to see the traffic cams of that! Was the slamming before or after the jail?"

"Way after," Rikku laughed. "Jail was ... we, uh, didn't have any money, and Mel said we should hit up those machines? Uh. You put a bank card in and you get cash out? So we figured if we pulled one out of the wall, free cash! But that kinda didn't work. Jail here is funny, they just gunk up your fingers and take your pictures and then put you in a little room. It wasn't even that hard to bust out."

The laughter was great. John needed this to help get rid of the Doom-induced uneasiness. "Seriously, my hat's off to you and Mel. I'm taking you on my next road trip for sure."

"Can't wait," she grinned, sweeping him a bow. "We're big believers in chaos. Uh. And I'll try not to steal too much if you don't want to get arrested."

"As long as I'm not arrested in my reality, I'm good," John told her. "Wouldn't want to inconvenience anyone with a phone call from the police."

"No phone calls," Rikku promised solemnly. "Breaking out is way easier."
