The Gym; Cheerleading Practise; After Classes, Tuesday.

Since this was exam week and there was lots of studying and getting ready for graduation (for some people) going on, practise today would not only have an 's' because Chad was running it, but it would also be a fun, easy kind of practise. He had the fun and easy Fun Run One mix playing and had more than enough fun and easy and stress relieving snacks...healthy snacks! Fruits and vegetables!...and got ready for a fun and easy practise.

"He does," she agreed. "I've got Another one bites the dust stuck in my head. I mean that song is fun to practice too."

Annette looked back at him, nudged his leg with her knee. "So, how've you been today... so far?"

A.J. shrugged a little and nudged Annette's knee back. "It's a Tuesday," he said, "so bored. Slept in a bit. Came here. That's about it."

"I slept in too and as much as I'd like to lay down after practice, I've got studying to do. One more final and I'm done. And wow... I just realized I'm really done. That's..." she had no words. Graduation was just around the corner.

"I've got 'til Friday," A.J. said with a light quirk of his lips. "But nothin' 'til then. Wouldn't hurt to brush up on a couple of dates and stuff, though, I guess..."

"Yeah? What class you got on Friday?" she asked.

"Art history," he answered, bobbing his head with a nod. "I'm hoping for a nice creative exam, then I can do well. Thankfully, though, it's a subject that even if it's a practical, I can still probably scrape by on the skin of my teeth."

"Of course you'll do well," she said with a smile and another nudge. "It's art; something you are incredible at."

"It's art history, Annette," A.J. reminded her. "Like, actual...technical...intelligent stuff about art. It's worlds different."

Art was art; Annette really didn't know much of a difference. But history was a good thing. "Well, you know..." she trailed off and reached for his hand. Hand holding was good. "What do I know? I know names of artists and their work, not the history thereof."

A.J. very easily and very gladly let Annette take his hand and gave it a little squeeze. "Artists and their works is a good start. Then you've got all the movements and their time frames and their sort of...message to society and all that, their impact on future artists and...y'know, if it were any other sort of history, I'd be dead in the water. I actually have a chance with this stuff, y'know?"

She looked down at his hand, returned the squeeze. "Is there a certain artist, A.J., that affects you, maybe encouraged you, influenced you, to become one yourself?"

A.J. shrugged a little, then grinned. "For a while, our TV only got PBS, so I watch a hell of a lot of Bob Ross when I was little. He's probably to blame."

Annette tried to hold back a chuckle at that, but just couldn't. "He is good if not a little funny to look at."

"And very cathartic for a two year old."

She smiled. "I bet you were cute."

"Oh, yeah. Just ask my mom. I'm sure she thought it was real cute when I got the idea of drawing happy little trees on our living room walls with my crayons."

"Every little kid colors on walls," she said. "Even I did. Of course, I had my own playroom, but still, I colored on my walls and I know it was fun because I just did the same thing the other week when I was wee. Not to mention invite my friends over to join me."

"Yeah, no guesses here whether or not you were a cute kid," A.J. teased. "I know from experience."

Annette giggled. "I was something, that's for sure. I wonder how cute my parents thought I was, for real. If they would have given me a sibling to play with I wouldn't have been such a brat, I'm sure of it."

A.J. just looked at Annette with an impish smirk for a second.

"Or," he finally said, "maybe it was because you were such a brat that they didn't give you a sibling. One was more than enough."

She let out a little gasp then playfully pouted.

"You know," A.J. said, eying the pout, "that worked a lot better when you were five."

She blinked slowly at him, innocently, and poked her bottom lip out a little more.

Then, to be a little wicked, she raised his hand to her lips and kissed his knuckles, her eyes never leaving his.

The red in A.J.'s face was from the extremely hard-pressed attempt to not start laughing. "Not. Going. To work," he insisted, although anyone could tell that it was an effort to get that out with a straight face.

Annette lowered his hand to her lap and stared at him, willing her eyes to water just ever so slightly. "Meanie."
