Shooting Range, Tuesday Mid-Morning to Mid-Afternoon

[intraspective]

Ino's mood was... better. Well, 'better' than last night.

That didn't mean she wasn't looking forward to shooting a target that was totally being named 'Cable-san' though.

She really needed her own gun. Ino mulled over the chances of getting her hands on one--maybe talk to Triela about it?--as she waited for Romeo.

And his gun.

"If he wasn't alive then, he's insane," Romeo said, shrugging it off. "He has all these stories about having had a major religious figure -- Jesus, I don't know if you have him in your world -- as his best friend."

He eyed Ino. "Do I need to go over the rules, or do you have them? All I care about is that you don't point it at me or anyone else."

[intraspective]

"Jesus is the Christmas guy, right? Annette told me a little 'bout that." You know, during Christmas. "But it doesn't exist in my world."

She lifted her chin imperiously. "I know the rules." She just... tended to ignore them. Go Ino. "And I promise I won't point a gun at you." A beat. "Or most other people."

Anyone else was highly dependant on who the 'anyone else' turned out to be.

"Aye, the Christmas guy," Romeo confirmed, biting back his half-urge to give a bit of a lecture. "I was raised with that, so having my teacher claim to be his best friend was strange to start with."

He carefully handed over his gun, muzzle pointed to the ground. "I suspect 'most' is good enough," he had to admit. "And if Deadpool or Cable comes in, I'll warn them away."

She pondered that. "I guess it would be, a bit. Maybe you should be glad you didn't get the actual Jesus here though?"

Ino took the gun neatly, and yes, kept it pointed at the ground. "Spoil-sport," she told him. "Shooting them would be a great deal of fun."

"If I'd gotten the actual Jesus, I would have become convinced I was either mad, or dead," Romeo said flatly. "Or both, a dead madman."

He looked dubious. "Perhaps, but I suspect I would get the detention or worse if it happened with my gun. But you can shoot when you feel ready, I'll stay here and do some studying."

"Just blame it on Fandom," Ino said with a shrug. "Stuff like that happens. Yondaime-sama is dead in my world and yet he's alive here."

"Nah, I'd tell them that I'd stolen it off you and you were here and trying to get me to give it back. You'd be fine then."

Romeo's eyes clouded. "That must have been odd for you," he said. "Seeing a dead man walking about. I saw a double of someone dead in my world in Paris, and even that was confusing."

Curious now, he asked, "Does he know you knew him as dead?"

"And I shouldn't let a lady take the fall for me, but in this circumstance I might."

[intraspective]

"He died a hero back home," she explained. "So, when I first saw him I got pissed off because it's not funny to make a joke of someone who died for the sake of the village. I didn't think he was the real thing. But we talked and he knows my Dad, well his universe version of my Dad, and told me stuff that an impostor couldn't fake, you know?"

"I offered," she pointed out, "so it's obviously not a problem for me to take the punishment if that happens."

Romeo nodded. "With all the different universes here, things like that must happen, but I'd still have so many questions if something like that happened to me." And that made him half-hope Mercutio -- no, that wasn't worth thinking on.

"You did offer," he said instead. "That doesn't mean I must let you do it."

With a teasing smile, he gestured to the lanes. "Do you think the Cable target is ready to be shot, at least?"

[intraspective]

"We don't talk much," Ino admitted. "It's not really comfortable, you know, and I haven't been very keen to go and talk to him since the one time I did go ask for advice about Kabuto, Yondaime-sama called him a monster."

She shrugged. "If you want to get into trouble..."

Ino nodded sharply, stepping towards the lanes. "He shall be shot many many times." Oh yes.

"It wouldn't be at all comfortable, and ... Kabuto who lives across the hall from us?" Romeo asked, trying to picture him. He had a vague impression of glasses and an air of preoccupation. "Why a monster?"

He could wait for Ino to finish some therapeutic shooting before she answered him.

He'd have to wait really, because the target was totally calling her name.

On went the goggles, target was set--with a markered on face--and Ino took her position neatly, raising the gun confidently and shooting at the target. And hitting it.

Again. And again. And again.

Romeo, impressed, was putting Ino on his list of people to never piss off if he could help it. He didn't have any advice, as his own shooting was both instinctual and no better than hers, so e just watched and tried to review his ethics notes.

Ino had been training a lot over the course of the semester, both from Cable-san and from Triela. Her shooting reflected that.

It helped, too, that she'd narrowed her focus down to where there was only the gun, her hands, and the target. Nothing else mattered but hitting the target.
