The Roof, Wednesday Late Morning

The emo garden needed tending, which seemed like an appropriate activity for Anders to shake off the lingering melancholy of missing his kids -- and he was whistling while he did it. Good sign, if a little weirdly ironic.

Bel had bequeathed the garden with its spiky plants to him a year ago, but he was going to have to find someone to take care of it for him, soon; he only had a few weeks left here, after all.

. . . wow. That was a sobering thought, but it made him grin a little bit, too -- not at the prospect of leaving, just at the thought that it had been three really damn good years, in the long run.

His horticultural efforts done with, Anders sat down on the edge of the roof, lit up a cigarette, and just enjoyed the view.

Lana made her way up to the roof, wanting to be outside and up high. She smiled when she saw Anders already there. "Hey. How are you doing?"

"I'm letting everything sink in," Anders replied, head raised as he watched a cloud of smoke dissipate into the sky. "It keeps bouncing off, though. Every time I remember we graduate on Saturday, it's a surprise."

"Yeah," Lana said quietly. "You still planning to stay through the summer?"

"That's the plan at the moment, yeah," Anders said. "For the first half at least, for sure. You?"

"Hey Lana. If I'd known there were going to be so many people I would have brought food."

Lana nodded. "Not much in the mood for eating myself, but I see what you mean."

"So, how's the end of the year treating you?"

Adam couldn't believe how time had flown, his junior year was technically over. Wow. How did that happen? Still a little shocked, he made his way up to the roof, in an attempt to sort through his thoughts.

"Hey, dude," Anders said, waving at him with the non-cigarette holding hand. "Pull up a piece of roof, do the 'holy frak, it's summer' thing with me."

"Hey," Adam waved back, smiling. "I can definitely do that," he laughed, taking a seat next to Anders. "I think the shock is just settling in, honestly," he admitted, still boggling at how time really does fly.

"Join the club," Anders replied, swinging his legs a little as he flicked ash over the edge. "You're not graduating this year, are you?"

"Yo Roomie." Billy said. He'd been trying to ignore the fact that this guy wouldn't be his roommate anymore.

"Hey roomie," Adam replied, grinning. "What's up?" Yeah, he was trying not to think about that either.

"Not much. Just getting as much roof time in as I can."

The roof was a place Demyx hadn't visited in far too long. The approaching graduation had him feeling nostalgic, remembering the jam sessions they used to hold on the roof sometimes.

There wasn't a jam session now, but there was an Anders. Another memory.

Demyx lifted his hand in a partial wave, not wanting to disturb Anders, but also being friendly.

Another memory indeed, and the smile on Anders's face was wistful and tinged with regret. "Hey," he said.

"Hey." Demyx shoved his hands in his pockets, unconsciously hunching his shoulders a little. "Graduation's coming up soon, huh?"

"Yeah. Crazy, isn't it?" Anders gestured at him to move closer. "You got plans for afterward?"

Jack...decided the roof would be an appropriate place to mope for a bit.

Hadn't heard back from his dad in at least a month. Starting to worry him. And as for the summer...?

"If you're here for the Holy Crap Where Did The School Year Go party, you're in the right place," Anders deadpanned.

"Oh. I, ah, didn't see a sign," Jack said. Looking for the sign. Yes.

"I can't believe it's over already," he sighed.

"No sign, sorry," Anders said with a shrug. "I'm a terrible party planner, which is assuming that I even planned one, which I didn't. But yeah, I know. The year just --"

He snapped his fingers.

He wasn't going to have a lot of opportunities to hang out on the roof soon, so Billy wanted to take advantage of it while he could.

Apparently a lot of people had had the same idea. "Hey Anders." Billy greeted. "How's it going?"
