Virgo Campfire, Monday evening

Dean had spent most of the day just hanging out, with a side trip to the library to make sure his geek of a brother remembered to eat lunch. Now that it was dusk, he was taking advantage of the camping and had started a fire in the cabin's firepit. He had marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate, yes, but he also had weiners and hot dog buns. In other words a full meal that can be cooked on sticks over flames.

The basics sometimes were the best.

[ooc: open like an open thing. now with campfire food to share!]

"I just got here Friday myself," Wes nods. "And apparently I'm only seventeen years out of date, so I guess you've got me beat there."

"It does seem a bit extreme," she agreed. "I could subtract my century and still be twice over yours. So what sorts of things were you surprised to see, then? I'm still waiting for someone to explain that this is all an elaborate practical joke, and it's really 1873, still, and they can't believe I bought that, it was so very obvious."

"Bigger televisions, smaller cell phones... apparently the Internet's not just for total geeks anymore... all of which is probably so much gibberish to someone from 1873," Wes admits sheepishly. "Also, the tiny turtles that were everywhere the other day. Those were surprising in an entirely different way."

"I'm afraid I didn't follow most of that, no," she apologized. "And I didn't see the turtles. Did any of them have a bull's head?"

You never knew when old friends might show up.

"Not that I saw," Wes admits. "Just turtle heads. Or maybe they were actually tortoises? I've never been exactly clear on the difference."

"As far as I've seen, the only difference is that one word is longer and more likely to show up in crossword puzzles," Alice noted. "But if you should happen to see a turtle with a bull's-head, tell him I said hello. At the very least, tell him to stop slobbering, as he's likely crying over something stupid."
