Sirius Campfire: Sunday Morning

After a day spent frolicking in the Preserve with all her new friends, Giselle was almost sad to have woken back up as a girl.  But the sun was shining, and she'd made a lovely fire and even found some yummy breakfast food in the living room of the cabin.

Her friends - the squirrels and chipmunks and even a few teal deer - were still sitting around the campfire, and Giselle was talking animatedly to them, slightly saddened they didn't talk back like they did in Andalasia.

Cal really couldn't have been happier to have woken up in his normal state that morning, and was intending on celebrating the return of his human form with a nice obsessive work-out in the gym, but, on his way...

...he wasn't easily distracted, for the most part, but this....just about did rather well. "I missed the memo on the critter party," he commented, and then, only after he said it, wondered if maybe the critters were only there for more breakfast if needed.

"Are those deer blue? Or is it still just that early?"

"Oh, no, they're blue," Giselle said, looking up happily at the newcomer. "Teal even. Aren't they lovely?"

Cal wondered if anyone had a right to be that chipper early on a Sunday. He was leaning toward no. "It's always something around here, isn't it?" he asked. "If it's not us being ponies, it's blue...teal...deer." He shook his head slightly, and then nodded toward the food after taking a second to weigh work-out against breakfast. Breakfast was winning. "That for everyone?"

"Of course!" Giselle said happily, gesturing him to sit down. "I made it to share. The animals don't want any, but it's very good." She smiled at him. "Wasn't it fun being ponies?"

"Uh, thanks," Cal said, blinking at the girl for a moment before taking the offered seat. Red hair, but, so far, she seemed like she couldn't be any more different than the Object in disposition, which was at least...good. "And it was...interesting." He was definitely reluctant to say fun, and frowned slightly. "I had wings. That sparkled. A lot."

"How pretty!" Giselle exclaimed, clasping her hands in front of her. "My wings were like butterfly wings. I rather miss them now."

Yeah, Cal had a feeling that he'd called that reaction right. Despite himself, he couldn't help smirking just a bit, shaking his head slightly again. Coffee. He could probably stand to get some coffee in him before deal with this, just as long as she kept away from any more. "Did you try to fly with them, by chance?"

Ella gave the boy a tiny wave. "It's quite astounding how they sit so still, isn't it? Usually deer shy from men."

Cal lifted his hand in a wave back. "Different breed, maybe?" he offered with a shrug.

"They are blue," Ella agreed. "Maybe they're bred as exotic pets."

"Teal, actually," Cal corrected her, as if he himself hadn't just been informed of that detail.

Ella smirked. "Of course. there's an important difference, blue to teal..."

Cal nodded importantly. "Clearly."

Ella, feeling better than she had the day before, wandered out into the campgrounds and paused at the border of the Sirius campfire. "How did you get the animals to do that?" she asked the redhead, her brow furrowed with curiosity.

"Oh, I didn't get them to do anything," Giselle said, smiling brightly at the other girl. "They're just so very friendly. They wanted to see where we were living."

"Oh," Ella said, accepting the explanation with only a tiny bit of surprise. "And what do they think of it?"

Giselle sighed sadly. "I wish I knew. They don't talk as much here as they do at home."

"They don't talk at all back home in Kyrria," Ella said, thinking. "Well, except the parrots, but they're really just repeating what they've been taught."

"Oh, I'm sure they do," Giselle said sincerely. "But maybe they just don't talk English."

Dean was heading back to his cabin to put the stuff away from his dawn ritual, but he slowed when he saw the girl sitting around with the animals at the campfire.

"So mass change of students into wildlife or just really friendly animals?"

"They're just very kind," Giselle informed him. "We spent the day together yesterday, and they wanted to see where I lived!"

"Huh," Dean said. "The squirrels I kinda get -- they can be nosy little buggers though they hold their alcohol like real troopers. But it's the first time I've seen deer hanging around like that."

"I haven't met any squirrels yet," Giselle confided. "Luke told me they liked things to drink and were friends of a pirate!"

"Yeah, pretty much. They work for the radio station," Dean explained.

"He said that too," she agreed. She bit her lip uncertainly. "I just don't know what that is."
