Sirius Campfire: Sunday Morning

After a day spent frolicking in the Preserve with all her new friends, Giselle was almost sad to have woken back up as a girl.  But the sun was shining, and she'd made a lovely fire and even found some yummy breakfast food in the living room of the cabin.

Her friends - the squirrels and chipmunks and even a few teal deer - were still sitting around the campfire, and Giselle was talking animatedly to them, slightly saddened they didn't talk back like they did in Andalasia.

[OOC:  Campfire!  Open!  Breakfast!]

"I...am probably in there too much," Cal admitted, scratching his chin a little. "But I did good with taking a break this weekend."

Granted, that was partially due to being a freaking pony, but that was beside the point.

"How much is too much?" Ella asked, mostly as a rhetorical question. "I mean, if it serves your goals, it's not too much."

"Three days in a row for well over an hour?" Cal threw out there. "You do have a point, though, about achieving your goal. To a certain degree."

Because no matter how much he worked out, Cal knew that he was always going to be way too thin with girlish hips. He came equipped with a tiny little chest, man-breasts without having every once of the fat that came with them, although they weren't nearly as noticeable as his self-obsessed mind seemed to believe.

"To a certain degree," Ella echoed, glancing over Cal and noting nothing except a slender boy of about her own age. "That does sound a lot, but if you're taking breaks when you need them ..." she shrugged. "Not that you asked my advice on any of this."

"No, but it does make for conversation," Cal pointed out with a light, shy sort of smile, still a little baffled at the whole fact that girls around here actually seemed to like talking to him. Or talking to him in general; for all he knew they only did it to be nice. "Haven't been in since last Wednesday; work," and being a pretty sparkly pony, "threw my whole routine off."

"I haven't found a routine here yet," Ella said, returning the smile. "I've classes Monday and Wednesday, and work at the diner Friday, but otherwise it's all free time. The gym, at least, would add more structure than wandering around the campgrounds."

"Luke's?" Cal asked with a tilt of his head. "Hey, I work there Thursdays; we're co-workers, I guess! And, yeah, the gym facility's real nice. If kind of...busy."

"Co-workers!" Ella agreed with a grin. "I went in for lunch the day the squirrels were protesting, and Lacey offered me a job. I was always in the kitchen at home and need money anyhow, so I thought, why not?. It was nice Friday. Quiet."

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
"With the little signs and everything?" Cal asked, a grin blossoming a bit more. "That's when I got offered a job, too. The protesting must have just made her hiring happy."

[identity profile] ella-obeys.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I couldn't decide if I was more surprised by the signs, or unsurprised they can't spell," Ella confided, nodding. "Not that the squirrels at home write notes, but somehow it makes sense they would spell badly if they did."

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, none of the squirrels where I come from write, either," Cal said. "At least, if they do, they're really good at hiding it."

[identity profile] ella-obeys.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Ella snickered. "Maybe they keep tiny diaries on acorn caps, and have vast libraries that we just can't read."

"Well," Cal reasoned as he considered this proposal, "paper is made from trees, and where to squirrels live? See? I think you're on to something, Ella."

[identity profile] ella-obeys.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
"That's because I'm very clever," Ella informed him with a sunny smile.

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
"See? I didn't know that," Cal responded with a hopeless lift of his hands, a gesture of his futility. "Now I do."

[identity profile] ella-obeys.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
"That's why I tell people these things," Ella grinned.

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Which...." Cal was going to comment that this was clever of Ella, thus only supporting her claim, but then he thought better about it, "...isn't very clever," he finished. "You tell everyone, and then they'll keep coming to you for your cleverness, and then you're swamped with people far less clever than you."

[identity profile] ella-obeys.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
"And that would be horribly boring," Ella commented. "Perhaps I ought to keep my clever nature a secret, Cal. I can pretend to be as dim as my stepsister Olive to everyone else."

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Olive?"

Cal felt that it needed commenting. "You have another sister named Kalamata?"

He waved his hand, dismissing the remark. "And I'll try to keep your secret safe."

[identity profile] ella-obeys.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hattie, actually. But I ought to start calling her Kalamata. She'd never get the joke."

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Cal grinned a little. "Sometimes," he said, "those are the best ones."
