Wednesday Evening - Caelum Campfire

Chris hadn't spent much time hanging out at the campfire yet since they had been at the cabins for one reason or another mostly because his mun has been sick/traveling. So after his classes, he had taken a handwavy trip to town to pick up some groceries and, when he returned, he started a fire in front of his cabin.

There was a small table set up with a variety of campfire cookable foods, including a couple of those cooking irons that could turn two pieces of bread and pretty much any filling into a yummy campfire treat.

"Oh, those creepy statutes?" Chris asked, grimacing a little. "I bet it has."

"Ugly tacky statues," Ino corrected him. "Ugh. And yeah, wound up stuck back there for seven months." A beat. "I can speak French now though, though I guess if it's changed I might want to update it a bit."

"Well, that's good, I guess," Chris said. "My brother and one of my friends ended up stuck in Egypt."

She twisted around to look at him. "Where's Egypt?" A beat. "I only really know the places I've been to, you see."

Chris bit his lip. "Uh... it's in Africa, sort of near the Middle East," he explained. "I can show you on a map sometime."

He gave her a curious look. "Where and when are you from?"

Considering the fact that those names meant... nothing to her... Ino looked sheepish. "I've got no idea, a map might be helpful."

"Me?" she grinned. "Konohagakure! That's my village anyway. Um, my world's closest approximate is like this world's Feudal Japan, but with TV and radio."

"Oh, wow," Chris said. "This place must have been major culture shock for you."

"At least I knew about electricity?" Ino said lightly. "It wasn't too bad, not really, but I'm good at adapting quickly so... yeah. Big change though."

"This is true," Chris said, thinking of Gwynn. "Being adaptable is a good thing, especially around here."

“And being able to not take things too seriously either,” she said with a nod, “it’s important to be able to laugh at it all. Or, at least, most of it.”

Chris nodded. "Oh, most definitely."

"Take nothing seriously, if it's the island that does it to you."

"It's great in theory, but sometimes difficult in practice," Chris admitted, thinking about when he and Johnny had gotten gremlin bit.

"True enough," she said, considering it, "it can sometimes take a bit of time before it becomes funny."

Chris nodded. "It's always funnier when it happens to someone else."

"Oh yes," Ino laughed, "and then you can take pictures of it!"
