near the main campfire - tuesday afternoon

He lay in the grass, mostly because he could. It was a little damp since the day seemed to flutter between beautiful and damp, but he didn't much mind. He didn't catch colds too easily (perhaps the one dip in the well had been enough) and water didn't have any kind of adverse effect on him...

And it was nice out. Soothing. Almost as much as the church, it would let him think.

It wouldn't go over well. He knew that well enough.

He blushed instead, and she could probably feel the warmth of his face. Well, it felt like she should. Perhaps she could.

"Oh. Um, thank you."

Amber decided to look down again and peered over her right side now, trying to ignore how she quite possibly made a fool of herself a few moments ago. Hopefully he would forget too.

"Oh my gosh," she mumbled, eyes wide.

"I don't mind you saying it," he said, misunderstanding. "I just don't have the first idea what to say back. What do people say when they're told they're attractive?"

Beat.

Oh.


"Are you having trouble with the height? Because we can go down.

"Um. Thanks, I guess? And you said thanks so..." Amber felt stupid. Just stupid. "I don't have any idea either. I don't know what I'm talkin' about even. I've never had a boyfriend; I don't know what bein' in a relationship is like and... ugh. You have a boyfriend and I shouldn't be sayin' things like what I said and... just ugh." Oh god her face was so incredibly hot that her eyes swam out of focus and being up so high just really didn't matter anymore.

"I'm good. I'm good."

"Amber? It's okay."

And there was a faint smile in his tone, but it was a warm smile. A smile meant to comfort.

"I don't know either. Life is made up while you go along. At least, mine has been. It's all right."

He paused.

"You're doing brilliantly with the height."

She just didn't ever want to talk about it again. Ever. Like in a billion million trillion gazillion billion years.'

"Thank you. Can you go fast?"

"Certainly. Would you mind loops?"

He worked best with gimmicks. Food or the broom or anything else not to talk much but still make people happy.

"Loops? Are you kiddin' me? I will plummet to Earth and go splat. Not very attractive, Liir."

She twisted her lips.

"But okay."

He made sure his arms were secure around her before zipping off, swooping down a few times back and forth before going for a looping barrel roll.

"Aaaaaaaaaa!" It was like a freaking roller coaster without being harnested in. Amber screamed and laughed and clung as best she could to Liir's arms.

Oh, he could do better than that! Barrel roll, loop, swoop swoop into a loop that ended in a barrel roll.

Amber's stomach fell out a ways back and now she was laughing so hard she could barely breathe let along hang on good.

"Ooooooh! Liiiiiiiiiiir!"

"About done for the day?" he asked, practically shouting so she could hear him over the speed.

She nodded. She had no more voice. At all.

And he evened them out a little before going into a relatively tame descent.

It wasn't long before they could see the ground and, after a bit of creative steering, the grass where they'd lifted off.

Amber was never more thankful to see the grass. Yes, she'd had a great time but, "Grass!"

He laughed just a little as he set them down.

"As you like."

Amber got off and promptly fell to the ground, laying back. "Ah, I think I will just lay here awhile."

He put the broom back into it's quiver and settled to sit on the ground not far from her.

"You don't mind if I reclaim my spot here, do you?"

"No, of course not. It's your spot," she smiled over at him.

"Thank you, Liir. Thanks so much for that."
