Fourth Floor Common Room, Saturday Evening

Now that they were in the dorms, Some Random Campfire was no longer a reliable source of sustenance, and this time period was woefully lacking in synthetron technology. So Alex had wandered around his floor until he came to the common room, with its kitchen, where he'd poked through the cabinets until he found something that would require no actual skill on his part to allow it to be consumed, and that did not contain chocolate. He didn't particularly care for chocolate, he'd found.

One bite of the Cheetos and he was hooked. Anyone entering the room would find Alex on the couch, guarding the Cheeto bag jealously, his fingers liberally covered with the Cheetos' pernicious orange coating.

Just no one tell him chocolate chip cookies probably have better nutritional value. He might cry.

Which, okay, had actually been *exactly* the kind of pizza he was hoping for. He just wasn't going to say that. "I like pepperoni too," he says, because that much at least *is* the truth.

"I had a feeling you would," says Jen. By which 'had a feeling' actually means 'seen you practically inhale them whole way too many times.' "I'll have to remember that next time . . . or you could come down and visit me at work on Fridays and Saturdays."

"Yeah?" Wes's eyes light up at the invitation. "I'll... I'll be sure to do that," and oh look there's a slice of pizza in his hand and now it's in his mouth.

And oh look, that's so cute. Even as a teenager he ate his pizza the same way, and Jen's totally not watching him with a grin. Only because she's eating a slice of pizza herself.

"What have you been up to lately?" she asks. Lame, right?

"Mostly just classes," Wes admits sheepishly. "Um, the other day I went to the music store, in town? Because apparently I've missed a lot in seventeen years, so I kind of wanted to catch up."

Jen wonders what the other Wes is like these days, but that sort of thing is too brainhurty in a common room situation so she drops the thought pretty quickly. "Was it a huge culture shock?"

"Kind of," Wes admits with a laugh. "Alice is helping me out. I'm only at the A's and B's right now."

"I know the feeling," Jen commiserates. "I didn't have time to get into a whole lot of music the last time I was in this century. If you want to talk kung fu movies, that's a different story though."

"Kung fu movies, huh?" Wes says thoughtfully, *totally* filing that away for future reference.

"Frankie Chang?" Jen says, getting that dorktastic grin on her face again. "Best ever."
