Alex Drake was so not a party kind of guy, which fact Jen knew very well. Knowledge of said fact, though, didn't stop her from running a couple of streamers around the common room in a mostly restrained fashion, then putting up a hand-lettered banner that read "Happy Birthday Alex!" (as birthday banners are wont to read). The streamers and the lettering were both red, yes; she'd dithered over that for a bit but decided to go with it in the end.

As for the hand-lettering . . . sometimes, for a thirty-first century girl, Jen was still stuck in that "living in a drafty clock tower, scraping by on odd jobs" mentality.

Which was balanced out by the stacks of pizza boxes, the chocolate cake, the small forest of soda bottles, and the very large bowls of Cheetos. (She'd also put out a couple of trash cans labeled, brightly and redly, "RECYCLE PLEASE!" next to the table with the sodas, because . . . well, see above re: thirty-first century.)

For music, she'd tuned the TV to the Kira Ford concert that was running on one of the cable channels. Because sometimes she was a dork like that.

There was a campfire. There were also assorted treats for said campfire and implements to use them.

Worf did not bring those treats and was not interested in using him.

He was however standing guard at the campfire to prevent anyone who wasn't a Cuddly Wuggly Bunny from taking them away.

[Open. Because Worf being associated with the words "Cuddly Wuggly Bunny" is too much not to abuse]

Dean had handwavily promised Zoe that he'd provide the cake for the party tomorrow so he was camped out in the common room kitchen, baking a couple of cakes -- a large one to be decorated and all that and a smaller Gracie sized one for her to really dig into. The extra batter left over, he was carefully pouring into a cupcake pan.

It was summer, it was a week without classes, and they were still in Antarctica. Yes, Brooke was still pouting. Not only that, but when she plopped herself in the common room with a blanket and popcorn to veg out, she found the Travel Channel was showing a whole lot of beach programming.

"Sure," she grumbled. "Rub salt in the wound, why don'tcha."

Now that they were in the dorms, Some Random Campfire was no longer a reliable source of sustenance, and this time period was woefully lacking in synthetron technology. So Alex had wandered around his floor until he came to the common room, with its kitchen, where he'd poked through the cabinets until he found something that would require no actual skill on his part to allow it to be consumed, and that did not contain chocolate. He didn't particularly care for chocolate, he'd found.

One bite of the Cheetos and he was hooked. Anyone entering the room would find Alex on the couch, guarding the Cheeto bag jealously, his fingers liberally covered with the Cheetos' pernicious orange coating.

Just no one tell him chocolate chip cookies probably have better nutritional value. He might cry.

Sokka had no idea what any of the cabin names meant, so he'd (handwavily) done some reasearch. And was left wondering why everyone else got cabins named after constellations, and he was stuck in the cabin named after a degenerative disease. So he'd done some MORE research and discovered he was in the BEST CABIN EVAR.

Which is why he had "Hungry Like the Wolf" looping in the background while he got the fire going.

[Open like an open thing!]
