Second Floor Common Room [Tuesday Early Afternoon]

The facts were these: Ned was baking a pie again. He'd almost tried to theme this particular pie with that of a volcano but the volcano was long gone and so was that idea. Ned didn't really want to simulate lava in a pie anyway.

He'd chosen a new recipe this time, something he'd never baked before and had set out to prep and cook in the common room.

He wouldn't call this a routine yet but it was relaxing. And it was nice to get out of his room and do something besides annoy himself with all his issues.

[Open common room is open. Work is boring. I am hungry.]

"That was kinda silly of you," she pointed out, laughing.

"I know," he said and continued to blush. "I wasn't think really clearly."

"I didn't think it was me," she added. "And you don't need to worry 'bout the touching thing. Seriously. I get it."

"No, you don't," he said very, very quietly. "But, thank you."

"I can try," she offered.

Ned paused, trying to figure out if she'd offered what he thought she offered. "Try?"

"To get it," she replied, shrugging a shoulder.

Ned blinked a few times, just trying to make sure she'd heard him right. "It would be...bad if you didn't. I'm mean, I wouldn't want you to be scared of me."

"I don't think I could be," she assured him quietly.

"I can't guarantee anything," he said quietly, "but I can try. Not right now but...whenever you'd like that's not right now."

"Well, 'course not now," she teased, trying to get a smile. "Right now's pie time."

"Pie time," he repeated, looking down at the pie. "It shouldn't be too bad if I don't get anymore of it on me."

"Try not to put more in your pockets," she recommended.

"Yes, thank you for the advice," he said, laughing lightly. "I'll try not to accidentally flick anymore at you too."

"I didn't mind that part too much," she assured him, smiling.

With that in mind, he flicked some more at her.

Kaylee laughed, crinkling her nose. "You're just wastin' it now."

"You look nice in pie," Ned said, blushing but not flailing.

She smiled. "I'll keep that in mind for when we have parties an' stuff an' I'm wondering what to wear."

"Pie," he said, dipping his finger into the filling and dotting her nose with it.

"Just pie?" she asked, raising a brow.

Ned raised both his eyebrows, felt his cheeks heat up and his neck start to get warm.

"Uh." Eloquence at his best. "You should probably...add a coat. You might get cold."

"It's summer," she pointed out, trying not to laugh.

"B-but still," he said, blinking rapidly, "you'd just be wearing...pie. That'd be cold. Brrr."

Kaylee just started giggling at him. "You really are so easy."
