Fourth floor common room, Tuesday evening

Being back in the dorms after a week of babysitting at the house, Dean wasn't feeling like staying in his room. So here he was in the common room, with freshly popped popcorn and soda and a tv with bad gameshows on it.

There were worse ways to spend an evening.

"This is... well it's a competition."

Now that interested her. "And for what do they compete? The honor of their groups? A prize?"

"Money, usually," Dean said.

She nodded, still watching intently. "Money is always a large motivator. But it would have to be a very large amount with a good chance of winning for me to participate in such a thing."

"Yeah, ditto. Some people have a lower bar of making a fool of themself than others. Which is why we have stuff like this," he gestured at the tv, "to watch."

"So this is soley for entertainment?" Helen asked. "It is not something where you cheer on a particular team as in cricket?"

"This is more about mocking the contestants than cheering on a team," Dean said. He paused. "They have cricket where you're from?"

"Mocking... I could do that." She smiled at that, then glanced over at him. "My world? No. But cricket is terribly important apparently in Adam's world."

"I don't know much about it other than it's very very British," Dean said. "I'm more a baseball or football guy myself."

"Even after having them babble about it at me, I find I am still not entirely certain I know anything about it," Helen admitted. "Baseball and football... those I have not heard of. I am afraid the priests were not terrible concerned with sporting events."

"I can run you through the basics next time a game's on if you want," Dean offered.

She looked a little shocked at the offer, knowing all too well the way people often reacted to her bluntness, then smiled. "Yes. I would like that very much," she said. "Thank you."

"Maybe this weekend -- there's usually baseball on Saturday afternoons."

She nodded. "Then I shall look for you to watch this baseball."
