5th Floor Common Room: Monday Night [7-21-08]

Helen was in the common room, clothes strewn on various surfaces as she tried to decide which were the best to cut up and make real clothes with. She'd had enough of the pirate wench garb.

There was a large amount of leftovers from the pasta, cheese, and meat dish she had made for Rodney this evening set out on the counter if anyone was interested.

Angela fidgeted with her skirt. "It was kind of a novelty at first," she said. "But one I'm getting sick of really, really fast."

"I'm thinking there is enough fabric that surely I can make something actually wearable out of it," Helen said, staring at the clothes in some annoyance.

"Are you good at crafts?" Angela asked. "Because if so, then I would say you definitely could."

"Not very," Helen admitted. "But I am rather determined."

"The most important thing," Angela agreed. "I'm sure you'll pull together something that works." Unless the island decided to change them into different pirate clothes of course... but what were the chances?

Helen looked at the clothes in front of her and sighed. "We shall see."

She glanced back up at the other girl. "There is food up there. Please feel free to help yourself."

Angela looked over at it. "Aw, thanks," she said grinning at Helen. "What did you make?" she asked.

"It is a dish with pasta, cheese, and meat - sausage," she explained. "I made far more than I intended."

"Gotta love having leftovers, though," Angela said as she pulled a plate off the side.

"I'm Angela," she added. "Which I think since I'm eating your food I really should mention."

"Leftovers are good, indeed," Helen agreed. "Perhaps tomorrow I will make a type of stew which is even better the second day."

"I am Helen Haras-Uquara," she said. "I am glad to meet you Angela."

"Good to meet you too," Angela returned. "How long have you been here? At this school, I mean."

"Only a few weeks," Helen said. "I am still adjusting to everything. And you?"

"Same." Angela grinned. "Always nice to know I'm not the only one finding this place... a little out of the ordinary."

"It is very unlike my home," Helen agreed.

"It's unlike where I live right now," Angela said with a nod. "But supposedly its normally just off the coast of where I live. Sort of."

She frowned, "I think I should really give up trying to understand."

Helen nodded. "It seems better to just accept what is.

She smiled a little ruefully. "But I am afraid I am not very good at doing that. Thus, the clothing problem."

"I'm just hoping my old ones come back eventually," Angela said. "Because while I like shopping, I don't really want to have to buy a whole new wardrobe."

"Yes," Helen agreed. "I liked the clothes I had and I cannot get the same things here."

"I'll be getting the fashion of a decade in the future," Angela said. "Which while I love to be a forward thinker, doesn't exactly make me fit in back in the nineties."

Helen blinked at her, not really understanding much of what she'd just said. "You are from this world, but not from this time, then?"

"Right," Angela confirmed cheerfully. "This world, but ten years ago."

"Or, I think this world, anyway."

Helen nodded. "My world is far different from this one. Which would make getting appropriate clothes even more difficult.
